I am new to PLCs --2 weeks of self study and classes. So far I believe I have a good grasp on Ladder programming and wiring PLCs (siemens).

ADVICE NEEDED:
Do you advice I spend the $2000 at my disposal on more classes at an institute or Buy a PLC and continue self study while searching for a job.

The institute I am looking at attending is offering a 6 weeks 8hr/day practical training (confirmed)on the following:

9 PLC Brands ---AB, ABB, Siemens, GE-Fanuc, Omron, Keyence, Mitsubishi, Schneider & Messung)
2 Major Brands of SCADA ---Wonderware Intouch & Intellution Fix
VFD, MMI
Pneumatics & Field Instruments
DCS - ABB
DCS – Honeywell
PAC – Honeywell / Servo - Motion Control Interface
GSM PLC

Thank you

Agree with Keith - the Automation Direct PLC can give you a good test bed for learning the basics of PLC programming.

You can also find PLCs on e-Bay.
