Our company currently utilizes a bare copper conductor running in an oil-filled pipe to route 20 kV AC voltage (1.0 amp) from a step up transformer to an electrostatic grid used for oil/water separation. We want to change this design to use an insulated conductor running in either conduit or a cable tray. I have made contact with several suppliers of medium voltage cable through internet searches. No one seems to be able to supply a cable suitable for this application.

Does anyone out there in the big world know of some company I can contact. Okonite and ABB have stated that they do not have any product that will do the job.

valvepuke,
I think you need a single core cable from the single phase step-up transformer HV busing to the electrostaic grid bushing terminal. As such I cannot see any valid reason why you cannot find out a suitable cable for your application. You will not find a 20 kV cable (IEC or ANSI)since it is not a rated cable voltage. Therefore, you may buy 25 kV/# 1AWG OKOSEAL Type MV-105 from OKONITE or an equivalent.
