Single story masonry building with precast roof. Wall height aprox 15', 8" cmu.

My question is about putting the roof (precast planks) on the wall once the wall is complete. How long should the contractor wait before placing the loading the wall with planks.

Thanks.

I would assume the wall is grouted, so as long as required for the grout to reach enough strength to support the load. It's likely in the range of 50-70% of the final design strength.

Can you do an 8" bearing wall that's 15' high?

dik, in the new CSA code, there's theoretically zero height limit, it just becomes non-economical. You do need to take into account the appropriate second order effects. I just had this debate with the local jurisdiction.

Jay... I've done that and have a SMath sheet for it... and often the new approach does not work.

kL/r max out at 30...
