What output will this change when pulsing thin wall (.028)304 SS to a thicker flange (.375 wall) 430 FR Series SS?? We are an OEM and autogenously weld these assemblies. Our weld schedules have this variable ranging from 10 PPS to 50 PPS. I understand the relationship of peak, background and duty cycle but the Pulses Per Second is confusing.

The pulse also helps with weld pool mixing. This gets you better heat transfer and penetration. There is also the advantage that if you can lower the average current enough then you cna use smaller electrodes and further tighten your arc.
I have seen little benifit from low frequency pulse like yours. We do use 5,000Hz plulse. I have also seen much less impact on the ferritic grades since they have good pool fluidity to begin with.
