Need Opinion on Stress Analysis Procedure for Interior Monument Honeycomb Laminates

Hello VN1981. I am in need of using pshell elements for modeling laminates. I am curious how did your analysis worked out. I did a quick study of results between plate modeling and laminate modeling and the results are not comparable. I compared shear stresses as well as vonmises and principal...

    Structures course information

wktaylor. Thanks for the document. This is my job description. :) The advanced tools in the current work process won't allow you to do hand calculation everyday. I am searching for such a course which keeps my statics knowledge alive.

    Structures course information

Thank you RB and Burner. @Burner, I am into Aircraft interior stress field, Just wanted to keep my basics intact and keep learning more stuff. Flabel is very good course. It did give me more confidence in what I am doing. My problem is unless there is a binding to work on assignments and submit...

    Structures course information

Hello guys. In couple of months I will be finishing up with Practical Stress analysis course by Flabel. I am looking for similar course to keep my reading flow intact. Can anybody suggest me something which I can do as a distant learning in Strcutures please.

    Simple static problem

Guys I am sorry for not giving all information on the first place. Lets end this here. Thanks for your valuable time. I really appreciate your help here.

    Simple static problem

There are no rollers. Each end point ABC will be bolted down.

    Simple static problem

What I am trying to find here is a one resultant 'point' load which will induce X load at three ABC points. Even if it induces little bit of moment Y loads, I am OK with that. A resultant load dimension (X Y) is what i need to find and apply. The fixture can be a co-linear square tube...

    Simple static problem

See this picture for D' and D".http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=5a4e91fd-1ec7-45f4-9777-707e6265b3fa&file=20140806_141104.jpg

    Simple static problem

Thanks Hokie66 and Rb. Even i came up with the same answer. But what threw me off here is, X can be anywhere. Check the picture attached. I started thinking that 5572.1 lbs applied at one end (D) at a 3.36 inch distance will load differently than at D' or at...

    Simple static problem

Sorry for drawing the ABC forces are reactions. I am trying to find the resultant location based on three forces. I can calculate Y location by moment calculation. Having trouble in X location. I am reading information on force polygons based on your comments.

    Simple static problem

Hello All, I am having problem in solving a very simple static problem. I need to find the resultant load and its location. See the attached snapshot of the problem description. Thank you...

    Aircraft Fitting Factor Test

Thank you Sparweb and Rb1957.. I am testing the unit only for 100% load. Then applying 1.33 only to fitting to qualify that. I don't think I can eliminate testing fitting for 1.33 here.

    Aircraft Fitting Factor Test

This is interesting Sparweb. I didn't read properly the analyze and test differences in 625(a). But to make it clear here, I am Testing the unit anyways. But I am testing it to 1.33 per 785(f)(3). Even though it says for SEAT, I have to apply this for my Galley fitting also which is attached...

    Aircraft Fitting Factor Test

Thank you SWC. Appreciate your reply. This makes it more clear. After reading 25.625 and Boeing D655441, it is clear that we need laminate panel also for FF test.

    Aircraft Fitting Factor Test

I have a galley being attached to Aircraft Seat Track using a fitting. I need to analyse this fitting, for fitting factor test. I am testing the fitting along with the laminate panel attached to it and the laminate panel is failing before the required load is reached. Should I consider this...

    Machined vs Extruded

Thanks guys for replying. Yes deflection is an issue. Load is not that much an issue. But, I can not use stronger material for testing and use weaker for production. So i need to test the weaker and later i can use the stronger material for production.

    Machined vs Extruded

Hello, I have a AL 6061 part which can be either extruded or machined. Which is stronger.? Extruded or Machined.? As a stress engineer which would you prefer.?

    FEMAP REB3 behaving like RBE2

HI ..Thanks for your help. All I did is delete and recreate the RBE3. And it is working fine now. I think the problem was one of the node. It might be sharing a bar and also the mass element connection. But anyways. Its working for me now.

    FEMAP REB3 behaving like RBE2

It is just a static loading. I checked off the AUTOSPC. It is just the deformation contour what i am checking. I didn't check node deformation. I am using version 11.0. No errors in f06. .dat file shows the element modeled as RBE3. but its acting too rigid. Center node doesn't move and won't...

    FEMAP REB3 behaving like RBE2

HI.. I have modeled RBE3 with 6 DOF's for (one)Dependent Node and 3 DOF's for (many) Independent Nodes. But, when I display the deflection, the RBE3 doesn't move at all with rest of the structure. It rather holds back all the attached nodes firmly. It seems like acting as RBE2. And I have...
