Ansys workbench force and moment reactions

Dear Orel, Thank you very much for your response. Yes, the bar is not symmetrical and actually the moment reactions are big numbers and big differences (to me) that cannot be canceled out. I checked with a simple straight bar, there is no issue at all. Please help. Thanks.

Ansys workbench force and moment reactions

Hi all, I'm using Workbench 14.0 to work on a variable-section bar which is fixed at both ends. The only external load I applied is standard earth acceleration (on the Y-axis). I want to get the load reaction at both ends. Using the workbench probe I could get the force reactions (FX1, FY1...

    FACE SEAL location

hello, there are 2 mating flanges. One is Iron flange, and the other is aluminum flange. Under internal pressure of 500 psi, and temperature of 200 C, should I design the face seal gland on the iron flange or the aluminum one? Thanks ahead. Lagpump

Stack up analysis and Shim calculation

Hi rb1957, Thanks for your response. Actually the tolerance bands are equally spread over the nominal dimensions which are +/- .001. In the loop, there are requirements of one interference of .0005 and a gap of .030. What do you meant by "sufficient gapping" to create a shim and "shim...

Stack up analysis and Shim calculation

hello all, I've just done an axial stack up analysis for a loop in an assembly of 7 components. As a result, The calculated shim thickness is .001+/- .009. The questions is that do I need to modify some components' dimensions so that I can get a realistic shim thickness of at least .009 +/-...

ASTM A564 and heat treatment call out

hello, On the drawing of a stainless steel nut, we calls out the material 17-4 per ASTM A564. Is this call out good enough or do we need to call out the heat treatment, for example precipitation? Thanks.
