Crosshead is normally below the piston rod stuffing box / sealing arrangement, so will not normally be subject to high pressure atmosphere.
Some engines I've worked on have used telescoping tubes to the crosshead which also supply oil to a cooling circuit within the piston rod and piston crown...

In the UK, at least, an FPSO is NOT a ship. It is an oil producing installation; hence it is not subject to normal shipping regulations (like IMO, MARPOL etc) but those pertaining to oil producing installations.

Tubing typically used in my industry (Oil&gas, upstream, produced water) is mainly to ASTM-A-269 or -213.
You should be running the gasoil through a purifier from bunker tanks to daytanks; this will remove any water/debris which could have accumulated. I wouldn't worry too much about fuel quality.
