It is 4 story 5B type construction 30,000 sq. ft residential building (1st floor commercial space, floors above residential with attic).
Building height and area exceeds table 503 (IBC) and sprinkler system is required per NFPA13.
But, if the building is draft stopped (3000 sq.ft.), is there...
I totally agree with statement that area needs to be sprinklered , just don't get where architects or AHJ think if you rock bottom of trusses with we can eliminate sprinkler protection above. I think that next thread has same question..
I've seen office building where they attached drywall to trusses, fire stopped and they did not put sprinklers above. I guess AHJ was making they own rules or am I missing something here :)
Hi,
It is a building with roof trusses and drop ceiling. 5/8" drywall attached to bottom of trusses.
Do we need protection above ceiling?
I attached pdf from arch. drawings.
Thanks...
Hi,
Quick question,
From NFPA 13 2016 edition, when we protect exposed nonexpanded group A rack storage (figure 17.2.1.4 (j), do we have to balance in-rack sprinklers with ceiling sprinkler system?
Section 17.2.1.5 doesn't say anything about balancing, only section 17.1.5 says that in-rack...
I have a beamed ceiling and the inspector wants to have a head in each pocket (see picture)
Would this pockets be defined as ceiling pockets ( 100 cubic feet rule) ?
beams area 8"x8".
Thanks...
It is for 4 story residential building.
Porte cochere is at front and it is detached about 2 feet from the building.
Costumer is asking from us to prove to him (code section) that sprinklers are not required there.
Thanks,
