for me, it is not corrosion. corrosion will damage the whole case, not localized. i suggest to check the capacity and pressure, compare it with Performance Curve, check also NPSHa and NPSHr. Under capacity operation also should be consider.

I install RUSCH twin screw pump, duty is Palm Oil Transfer Pumps, fitted with Mechanical Seal. The pump have product (palm oil) leakage on bearing housing, which I suspect cause by Mechanical Seal failure. However, the leakage stop if I run the pumps.

I have a problem when replacing a very old Southern Cross Pump PSJ Series. The old pump has a very special impeller as attached.
Anyone can help me to give more information of attached impeller, and specifically of Southern Cross PSJ Series?
Based on the figure; i suggest to have vacuum assist priming, you just need to have small vacuum pump or compressor.
The controller will be much simple, just run the vacuum pump for a while (depends on the suction pipe volume and vacuum pump capacity) before run the main pump.

The self priming system also will not work on leaked suction pipe.
A small leak in the system, especially in suction side, will give big problem, no matter you use, self priming, or modified priming system, vacuum assist priming or just standard foot valve.
Find good quality foot valve :)
