    Pole design

Hello friends, I need to design a pole that meets the following requirements: 1. The pole is steel pipe pole 20m high, 2. The oscillation of the pole, including assembly, shall not exceeds +-1% of pole height of the pole in wind gusts with speeds lower than 129 kph. 3. The pole structure...

    modeling time effects

Hello, My Software I use for bridge modeling do not take into considerations Time effects like creep and shrinkage. For my knowledge these kind of effects can be modeled as a temperature loads. My problem is to find and prove the magnitude of the temperature load to model the creep and...

    Prestress and Torsion

Hello. I need to design H=330cm B=300cm rectangular beam that subjected to 3000 ton*m torsion. (Factored) I can handle maybe the longitudinal reinforcement, but not with the stirrups needed. I want to Pre-stress the beam to reduce torsional reinforcement requirement. (Post-tension) Where...

    Arch buckling

Many thanks guys, your help is really appreciated. I am about to print this thread and go over it very thoroughly. Probably a few more questions will pop up. Thanks again. Ido

    Arch buckling

I considered unbalanced live load, yes. I considered live load only on half of the middle span.

    Arch buckling

Thank you all. Just to make sure, I have fixed arch at both ends, If I use le=0.5*l I think it is conservative. l represents the WHOLE arch length and not just projection line. Please advice.

    Arch buckling

Thank you all for the replays. BAretired: Can you please point me to a reference that I can see what you suggests? I need a solid reference in case I want to include these solutions in my static calculation notes. JStephen: My concern is about the arch buckling. Thanks again.

    Arch buckling

Hello, I need to design a steel pedestrian bridge that the middle span is hanged on an arch that pass over it. How do I take into account the arch geometry for buckling calculation? I think I need to reduce the effective length, but I an not sure, and if it is the effective length I do not...
