Component pattern of a part that is excluded from BOM, patterned components show up on BOM

I don't think I've ever seen a setting for this, so all I do is expand the Pattern, shift-select all the "offending" components, click Component Properties, and select "Exclude from BOM". Extra step, sure, and I suppose if I had to do this a LOT, I'd submit an Enhancement Request.....

    Curved sheet metal flange

Sketch a single line-single arc per your lower right view, like you were going to do a "Base Extrude-Thin Feature", but instead, go to your Command Manager Sheet Metal Tab, and click "Base Flange/Tab". In the Base Flange Property Manager, select Direction 1 (and/or Direction 2) as your extrusion...

    More than one BOM?

Or....combine multiple BOMs into one, using a QTY column for each configuration/sub-assembly..... Steve Rhttp://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=f421e086-589e-4db8-8991-b21b7f006841&file=Multiple_BOM.JPG

    BOM question

Al - Jeff's suggestion is a good method, and that's the way I created BOMs for a long time. But, I was always looking for a more parametric way, just to try and keep my po' l'il pea brain from having to remember to make whatever changes to the Excel-based BOM. It got to be an even bigger issue...

Left / right hand part issue

Al - I had to do something similar a while back. I modeled the "form at assembly" sheet metal part so it would look correct, made my opposite-hand version, and then excluded them from the BOM. Then I modeled the part in the un-formed condition (just a simple flat metal strip), added two of them...

Jagged Edge In Solidworks Detail View

Rob - I think you could draw the jagged edge as a closed set of lines in the Parent View, select them all (Select chain), and then click for your Detail View. The outline still shows as a circle on the Parent View, but the Detail View reflects the jagged lines you drew. Steve R.

Standards for Using Airplane Coordinate Systems

Maybe I underthunk it too much....all I did was rename my standard SolidWorks planes from "Front" to "STA" (station), "Top" to "WL" (waterline), and "Right" to "BL" (buttline) Steve R.

    End of View Line Break...

Nella95 For that, I use "Crop View", and create my own Zig-zag lines in the sketch I use for the Crop View outline. Kind of a pain, but sometimes you just need a view break that the limited options in the "Break View" command just doesn't provide.... Steve R.

Rapid Prototype of Fairing for End Use Product

Chris - During the flight test program to get the wing stores certified for our GV, we had to prove to the FAA that those stores would not adversely affect flight when they were covered with ice, so we created some "ice" from parts printed in our old Dimension (ABS FDM) printer. Worked really...

Ninja - Check out www.gerdingent.com They have some videos on their website, a couple of them making the parts for our Gulfstream V research airplane. They'd also give you a quote on making your parts. Steve R.

    Managing Part Numbering

sfaz - The guy that runs 3dawn.com and solidworkstemplates.com wrote a macro for us that works well for assigning a dumb part number to a SolidWorks part - with one button click. It also will work in an assembly to assign the top level assembly number as well as any and/or all the parts in that...
