I am working on a foundation design for an evaporator. The compressor VERTICAL loading at the supports are +/- 74 kips. The duration of the load is 10 ms. What is the recommended load combination we can use? any references?
Appreciate your response.
hello,
what is the compression limit ratio for conduit pipes Kl/r? is it 200 like steel or more? if it is different can you provide the reference?
Thank you in advance.
Can someone refer to the code section for using the factor of safety against overturning and sliding for a footing carrying a simpson wood strong wall? I found the 1.5 factor for retaining walls but could not locate for shallow foundation. I can use 1.5 for both. 40 years ago there used to be a...
thank you retired13.
Can you locate a reference for the Internal thread stripping area and external stripping Area? I saw the equations from Federal standard H28 but they are cumbersome. There has to be a table developed. Do you know of any?
Thanks again.
I am looking for a table that shows the grade of stainless steel bolts or studs in grade 188 giving the tensile and shear capacity for 3/8" diameter. Can some one provide me with a reference? also, I am trying to locate the equation for "thread stripping area" ( I have not seen this title...
Thank you Mac.
I have a condition where there is no column at one end. I have decided to go with steel HSS vertical and horizontal member. It is an old garage where the concrete strength is 2,620 psi. Using Hilti Profis anchor software, the anchors are working using HIT 500 v3 with A615 #4 bar...
What I have is a ramp going to the second floor of the parking garage. The slab is discontinuous at the ramp. We are trying to protect the cars from falling down into the ramp.
Thank you.
I have to change my anchors in Hilti Profis to strength level forces by applying 1.6 factor for live load, which will give me a shear of 9600 pounds and a moment of 259,200 in pounds.
My other weak link is going to be welding the post to the base plate.
Thanks again.
Can you provide some design aid references for:
1. Stacked Boulder retaining wall mortared, and
2. Railroad tie stacked retaining walls
If you have any reference guides for design please forward names and links.
Thank you in advance.
When designing wood shear walls, I usually take the base shear per wall and multiply by 0.7 or divide by 1.4 to get ASD.
Using Table 4.3A wood-frame shear walls in the 2005 NDS (I don't have the 2012 yet, its on its way), footnote 1 refers to section 4.3.3 to determine ASD allowable unit shear...
