    Detention Storage Table

Peter, I will look into the stage voids, that would simplify my model! I'm not seeing where the "Impervious" checkbox is that you mention though, see below: Can you point me to the correct location? This will be my last question! Thanks, Aaron

    Detention Storage Table

Peter, Thank you for taking the time to respond and provide the clarification that I needed. When you go to make another program update, I would like to request you consider providing a means to report the calculated water surface elevation, regardless of if any portion of the basin is being...

    Detention Storage Table

I have a site with a dry detention basin with an infiltration trench in the bottom. I have modeled this with two storage elements: one for the infiltration trench portion (elevation 916 to 922) and the second above the infiltration (elevation 922 to 925). The surface area of the trench is...

Need pdf editor for schematic drawings

Frank, Did you try the PDF-XChange viewer I recommended? You cannot crop with the free version, but it will allow you to export the pdf to a png file. Then you could do your erasing and croping in an image editor such as Paint as FrancisL indicated. Another free and more powerful image...

    HEC-RAS output mystery

I understand being asked to show results that are more accurate that practically observable. Considering that the surveyor's rod could easily be stuck into the ground 0.02 feet while the elevation is being recorded, or conversely maybe sitting on a small rock 0.02 feet above the ground, maybe...

Detention Pond Inside Floodplain Zone AE

I have had similar results regarding the two analysis approach that beej67 describes. A good reference for this (IMO) is the Georgia Stormwater Manual, particularily this section: http://www.georgiastormwater.com/vol2/2-1.pdf Jump to section 2.1.9 on page 54.

    HEC-RAS output mystery

Does it matter? The flood studies that I have seen report elevations to the nearest tenth of a foot. Personally I would sign a no-rise certificate for a project if I only saw a change of 0.02 feet as you noted.

    Detention Pond Volume

You could take the average area times the depth of storage: 0.5 * (Upper Area + Lower Area) * (Upper Elevation - Lower Elevation).

Need pdf editor for schematic drawings

You might try PDF-XChange Viewer: http://www.tracker-software.com/product/pdf-xchange-viewer I've only used the the free version, but it does most of what Acrobat does. The PRO version is only $35.50.

House Lot: Can't Find (Old) Surveyor's Pin

I would suspect the description is based on the edge of the road right-of-way (as opposed to any physical feature of the roadway itself). As IRstuff noted, the county recorder's office should have a map, and that would likely show the right-of-way widths for SH and GHT. Not sure about where you...

H&H computer models for small civil engineering frim

pkcola – I used Drain:Edge when I worked for Cox and Dinkins in Columbia, SC in 97-99. I always liked the programs’ simplicity. I’ve have thought that HydroCAD is what Drain:Edge could have been if C&D could have developed a Windows version. I would reiterate that the free software...

    Flow Into An Infiltration Trench

The times I've used the Stormtech system they were installed under parking lots to maximize the utilization of the site. It's been my experience, regardless of the price of land, the owner never wants to leave adequate area to address stormwater.

How to set or adjust autosave in Autocad 2011

Personally, I would never turn off the autosave feature - if nothing else it is a reminder to do a manual save. I recommend creating a specific folder for your autosaves, as opposed to a temp folder that is being used by many programs. I set my log file, temp drawing file, temp external ref...

    Flow Into An Infiltration Trench

I have used the Stormtech system beej67 mentions sucessfully on two sites. My local ADS/Hancor representative was very helpfully and provided a system layout drawing specifically for my site and construction detail drawings for my use. The rep was onsite to assist the contractor with any...

    Te Soil type characteristics

I did a quick search on the Web Soil Survey (found here: http://websoilsurvey.nrcs.usda.gov/app/ ). The Te soil type is identified as being a HSG A soil. See the attachment for additional information. I did not print them, but that website has the values for the available water capacity...

    Design storm for erosion control

For the municipalities I've worked in, a 10 year event is typical for erosion control design (except, of course, any type of basin, which will typically look at up to the 100 year event), regardless of the design event required for the roadway/ditch/culvert/etc.

HEC-RAS Encroachment Analysis Elevations Need Help

One thing in the report that stands out to me: both culverts have the following note: "The culvert flow is blocked (either by a flap gate or the depth filled option." Could that blocked flow be what's causing your observed increase? Depth Blocked for both culverts is 0, which would seem to...

    Water Quality Flow Calulations

I see I did miss the "rate" in the original question. The method I described above utilizes the following: The Rational Method is defined as follows: Q = K•C•i•A where: Q = Peak rate of runoff (cfs) C = Runoff Coefficient C = 0.3 + 0.6•I where I is percent impervious divided by 100 i =...

    Review and stamp a report

While I agree with the other comments that you should be careful in this situation, I would not necessarily agree that you might not be able to help your potential client without risking your license. You could review the report and indicate in your disclaimer that you were not present at the...
