is it really necessary to run a stress analysis on a coppper tubing in which fittings are normally completed using swagelok and supported using a unistrut? I was made to understand that small bore tubing are inherently flexible thats the reason they're mostly bended sometmes even made into a...
twice both on the metal bellows of a heat exhcnager. both in horizontal position. the first failure is not service related but rather induced by invironment. the other is service related but at a lower temp. Both exchnager were repaired using a split bellows. On both occasion, we did not upgrade...
yes to both - structural integrity and safety hazard. the hazard analysis will reveal the corrective action necessary to reduce the risk associated with the temperature. im assuming that since your're in an operating facility, your company do practice PSM.
for those of us who works outside the US of A, the requirement for all vessels design/fab/tested to ASME Section VIII Div 1 need not necessarily be Code Stamped. The decision of whether the vessel should carry a stamped or not is not actually based in the judgement of the MBA but rather a...
our weldprocedure mandate the use of backing strip to welding aluminum pipe. we dont require it for cs and ss pipe welding. the intent is to prevent burnthrough, oxidation or contaminant during the root pass - & ensure you have a good root.
if the done on vessel or large bore dia pipe, you may...
i disagree that all vessel purchased should carry an ASME stamp. I do however agree, that all new vessel falling under Section VIII scope should be fab/tested to ASME Code.
I also agree with the opinion of ume153 within the limits stated in ASME.
we've just replaced the superheater in one of our boilers. Boilers are ASME code stamp and manufactured in Japan. We've got both the AI and the boiler mfr rep (as our consultant) plus the contractor own asnt inspector.
some bank tubes, screen tubes and baffles tube (from and to the steam drum...
the nbic nb-23 and api 510 is applicable only for vessel already in-service. if its new then youre back to asme section VIII. for me, its not about practicality or its has work before but rather compliance to the code requirement. you maybe exposing your compnay to liability risk but...
when the change in the qualified WPS is limited only to non-essential variables then all that is needed is to simply referenced the previous pqr to the new wps. the new wps does not require requalification.
