    Light and foot-candle readings

Thanks. Do you have any suggested lighting design guides, manuals, etc.?

    Light and foot-candle readings

If you have an existing light source and you add another new light source over the existing, are the foot-candle readings cumulative

    RISA - Column Axial Results

I have a simple question concerning the results of RISA analysis as follows. I have a single story framing system and the axial load between the top of the column and the bottom of the column is consistently 3.245 kips; however, my column only weighs .431 kips and there are no other additional...

    Light Fixture Hangers

    Great! Appreciate all the comments.

    Light Fixture Hangers

Thanks. I plan on performing exactly that, however, I am wondering if there is a particular code/standard that indicates what minimum strength/safety factor the anchor/hanger system is to comply with. Any suggestions?

    Light Fixture Hangers

I am in the process of evaluating light fixture hangers that are ~10 to 20 years old. Is there a particular code and/or design standard associated with the evaluation of existing hangers or the requirements for new hangers (i.e., material, safety factors, etc.)?

    Small Rotating Platform

    Thanks for the options MintJulep!

    Small Rotating Platform

approximately 42 degrees latitude ambient temperature range -20 degrees F to 110 degrees F Power to lights is not a problem and has been under development. Sheltered from all items listed; however, condensed moisture might come into play.

    Small Rotating Platform

Understood. Again as this is just starting off, we do not have all of the items ironed out yet. However, the following list might give some further understanding of the system: Loads - N.T.E. 500 pounds Speed - 2 to possibly 4 rpm Constant rotation in same direction - no reversing - only...

    Small Rotating Platform

I am currently in the initial stages of design for a small (~8 ft dia.) rotating light platform that will be protected from direct contact with weather elements, however, this system must be very reliable with very minimal need for servicing/maintenance due to very restricted access conditions...

Adding Window and Door Penetrations into RISA concrete wall

JoshPlum - Thanks for the response. So, for now with RISA 9.1, would you suggest that we analyze the structure (walls) under a general material format and size any headers, etc. within the concrete wall based on the response from the program?

Adding Window and Door Penetrations into RISA concrete wall

Is there a way to insert penetrations into a large concrete wall panel within RISA or do you have to "build" the model around each penetration?

Concrete Support Walls - Construction/Control Joint Spacing

hokie66 - We are still working with the truss designer, however, the spacing could be between 2 and 4 feet o.c.

Concrete Support Walls - Construction/Control Joint Spacing

RON9876 - The wall length varies, however, the longest is 140 feet.

Concrete Support Walls - Construction/Control Joint Spacing

We are working on a project with concrete walls (~18" thick) that are 16 feet tall to support roof trusses over a bulk materials handling area. These walls are to be designed as potential push walls from front end loaders. Any thoughts on the spacing of both vertical (and potentially...

    CMU Control Joints

Are control joint spacing requirements the same for interior walls as for exterior walls?

    CMU Wall Design

I am working on a project that has an interior CMU wall system that is supporting 12" deep steel joists spaced on 24" centers for a mezzanine floor. These walls intersect into other CMU walls that do not support joists. As suc, the elevations are established. The joists ends are to bear on...
