    UL 891 Supplement B

Thanks for your reply Yes, I did go to UL and after a couple of emails with them they finally led me to the fact that Supplement B is now actually Annex G of the UL 891. It can be amazing as to how someone is to know some of this stuff at times. Clear as mud I'd say

    UL 891 Supplement B

Please advise where one can get this? I seen it referenced by "asco1 (Electrical)" in another thread but when I search for it all I find is Supplement A?? Even when I go to the UL web site. Is there truly such a thing?

Bus Bracing for Low Voltage Switchgear

Thank you both for your responses. Yes, 891 is for Switchboards and 1558 is for Switchgear Assemblies. It appears that UL provide charts (in Supplement B that I can't find on the UL web site)for mfgr's to build switchboards but to build swgr, one has to follow testing guidelines to prove it can...

Bus Bracing for Low Voltage Switchgear

Please advise if there are any specific guidelines for bracing/supports for 480V 50kA Switchgear. There seams to be a table/chart available from UL891 Supplement B for Switchboards but haven't come across anything for Switchgear. Also, have not been able to actually "find" the Supplement B that...

VAR Control of none identical generators

Thanks Mike, I thought the CDVR seamed similar to the DECS200. Especially with the BESCOM software when I looked at the info in the CDVR manual sent to me. I don't have the settings yet for the CDVR but am interested to see what has been set (especially the loop gain as you mention). I've heard...

VAR Control of none identical generators

Thanks Bill, Yes it is an island plant (ship actually) and yes the fields get connected in parallel for the existing 2 machines but not for the new replacement machine. We need to see if the new AVR is set to respond appropriately with the old. The old have little to no adjustments but the new...

VAR Control of none identical generators

THanks to both of you for your responses. I realize that it is a tough issue and many factors can quickly work against you. Not sure what you mean by "Devil in details" and "Lots of Details". Do you need more details to offer more accessment? I'm concerned with the old Siemens CVG units that...

VAR Control of none identical generators

Is there a problem with obtaining a balanced excitation for equal VARS between generators of different kW ratings? I beleive this is done on a regualar bases but wish to know if there are any "special" precautions to take into account with the excitation system. This especially with old CVG...

WRIM Config as a SCIM and Started with a VFD Issues

I would like to thank all that provided me feedback on this thread. The major concern I have is still the issue with the Available Torque when the motor is configured as a SCIM. I realize that the V/Hz aspect of the MV VFD will provide much better torque than if the motor was just set as a SCIM...

WRIM Config as a SCIM and Started with a VFD Issues

Thanks DickDV Forgot to note that we do need speed control to get the MG set up to 575RPM and then gradually up through 600RPM to synch the machine on line. We have considered the thought of keeping some resistance in the rotor circuit to gain a higher torque but are not sure if it is needed...

WRIM Config as a SCIM and Started with a VFD Issues

Looking to see if anyone has had experience with shorting out the rotor and starting the motor with a MV VFD. The existing application is with a high inertia load (25MW MG set) that the motor has to bring up to 600 RPM via this WRIM. There are 6 armatures on this common shaft for which 2 are...
