seems too good for the motorists to have !!!
I cant see the gov,or the petrol companys actually going along with it just yet, maybe 12 15 years,
just think of all the lost revenue the will loose,
would be good to actually have some on the road, to put the sceptics at rest !!!
regards marcus...
Intresting thread this, but no one has said BMW has had problems with its cylinder bores,
6 8 and 12 cyl ones, so the ladds in the local BMW garage say, some thing to do with the ..coatings.. on the cyl wall deteriating,.
wonder if this could be it,!!!
Marcus
One does nae have to know how...
I totally agree with Izmus and Pat,
getting the air out, is as good as ,or better than a rad change
the faster you go, the more air is forced into the bonnet/hood area, thus raising the front of the car of the ground
also you need a good tight fitting rad shroud, so that any air that goes...
Hi all, one thing that most people are missing , is that the best timing at one particular rpm site, will not be the same at a site further up the rev range
Ie, little throttle opening , at 4000+ revs, will get away with alot of advance
but a lot of throttle openning, IE WOT, will need a lot...
Ok ,ladds , been doing a bit of detective work here, and also got some good feed back, from some ..cam manufacturers..
but one thing is clear, the gaps that are given with a cam, all vary, as to what the cam grinder thinks/wants
some say that the gap is needed to ..take..up the gap on a ramp...
Pat, Off topic here, a little,
but have been looking for clues!!, and come across an article that says that Crane Cams have noo gone bust,
maybe you already knew this
regards Marcus
One thing i forgot to mention, dont no if it affects other engines, but the ..rocker gaps.. get wider by about 1.5-2 thou, when the engine is hot
depending as to how hot it is, then the gap is bigger
its a cast iron head, block
I would have thought that the gaps would ..close.. up, as metal...
Mike,im with you on that, as i know that cams have take up
ramps, the one i have has these on, it says so in a
diagram, that was in the box,
the cam runs solid tappets/lifters
too tight and it puts undue pressure on the cam lobe.
Franze, this is sound thinking, but dont rev that...
Thanks Ladds, I seem to get the jist of it,
I was running the cam at 17 inlet, and 19 ex,
but on recomendation, from some one, who said that cos im on , 1.65 rockers, instead of 1.50 ones, then the gaps should be opened up to 19 and 21
as higher ratio rockers need more clearance,
this...
Thanks for the intrest, but I dont think Ive got yhe answers im after!!!!
Ivymike, youve come close, by saying that the bigger gaps in the tappets/ [rocker arms ] as we call them over here, are for an engine with more power,
i can see where ye coming from with this, but read below.
Pat, i...
This may be a long shot, but it happened to me once,
has ..both.. the heads been skimmed the same amount,!!!!
you say that you shortened the cylinders, is this normal way to go with Harlys,!!
as shortening the cylinders, will result in the pistons sticking up past the gasket, may be...
Can any one tell me why the gaps on a upgraded camshaft are bigger than on an OE one
eg, standard TR 6 , 35 65 35 65, 250 cam lift, 10 thou clearance, after market cam, same duration, but a little more lift, 25-40 more, but any thing from 16 to 24 thou clearance,
this is even if the cam is...
here are some pics of the set up, on me friends car,

Thanks you lads , will report back to him,
E types, as far as i can remember they all had tripples,
the fire order is what some folk are saying, cos there are a few Cars over here, that dont seem to go that well with this combination,
Pat, was the engine you had tripples on, the same fire...
Thanks Rod, but he tried most of what you suggested too, got some trumpets on too
but the stand off is different on the end to carbs so he says, , and going by the pic and his discription, its still standing off at higher revs
this is whats leading folk to think that they wont work with SU,s...
A friend has been trying for months now, with the help of others and some rolling road work done,to try and get the tripple Su,s he has put on his car to work
the car is a 2.0,litre , six cyl with a fire order of 1.5.3.6.2.4, and a 280 deg cam,
the prob he has got is blow back, /fuel stand...
Bosscat, been trying to figure out why you hav got 20 odd hp more, at only 100 rpm more.
but have ...still... got only 117 lb/ft torque at approx ..2100 rpm more !!!
Pat said you have not ..lost any torque..
but i see this as a half truth, as you will have lost torque at the original...
Boss cat, did not see the pic you got up till now
the ..plenum.. you made up, has it got ..bell mouths.. in the inside of it.
where the inlet runners meet the walls of the plenum!!
if it has,nt then you will be getting ..air stand off.. in there, and the more revs you use the more it will be...
Boss cat, the T 6 2.L is not a very torquey motor, compared to the 2.5, so torque will not be much , even if you do get more hp,
as a rule, the smaller the engine, and the more hp you get, the less torque you get lower down
intresting you say that there is a spike at 4900-5300!!
this engine...
