Hi All,
I have used StaadPro to do steel analysis. But i have some problem in assign the effective length of column. I have assign KY=2.0 and KZ=2.0 but when i check the design output the buckling calculation effective length still the same ==> K=1 . However the effective length under section...
Recently I want to calculate the base moment of one barrier. But I have some doubt find out the bending moment at the fix end for 1kN/m2 infill load. The object is standing 10 meter high with the length of 8 meter. Kindly assist for this simple structure analysts. Attached the sketch.
Many...
We want to adopt release well in piling stage. I have some doubts of it.
1. Is there any design criteria or guideline for release well.
2. How to determine the well location, depth and size.
Appreciate for your comments and replies. Thanks[bigsmile]
After i have read all your comments. I think my case is suitable for soldier pile with sheet pile lagging. But im wonder how the sheet pile lagging can be done... because i honestly said im fresh in temporary retaining. Have anybody have the sequence / method of work?
for dcarr82775, there...
We have one project which need excavation for padestrian underpass. The underpass is below the road level about 20 meter and the length of the underpass is about 15m. So i'm thinking to use sheet piles to drive in and then strut with king post. i'm estimated the driven will need about 40m from...
Thanks all.
The suspended slab was casted more then 3 months ago and had achieved the required concrete compressive strength. The crane have outriggers. But base on the crane loading i have check and assume the outriggers will park on the middle on span, then it must required at least 1700mm2...
Recently we are planning to park a mobile crane on the casted rc slab. But how we can check / determine if the rc slab can taking this load? I'm trying to check the deflection and punching shear on rc slab. Is these checking enought to determine the slab can taking the load? Thanks for advice.
Dear all,
Thanks to you all comments.
Dcarr : Offcource the shear link for the beam will go in the pile cap until the column interface.
hokie66: to rise up the pile cap is to minimise the excavation depth.
tngv: The beam will not seperate out but in continous as early design.
Thanks.
Hi msquared48,
I think you get my point. The column reinforcement is go up from the center line of pile cap. The beam is pin to the column / pilecap if the beam rest on the top of pile cap. But i'm not sure is fix if the beam go thru the pile cap.So if that is the case is there are any...
Hi, I’m green in design and need yours some advice. I have some doubt regarding to rise up pile cap and combine with the beam and slab. When doing the design all elements is separated slab, beam and pile cap. But now all combine is that will affect the original design? I enclosed the sketch for...
I will construct a biofiltration rain garden on my project. This is fresh to us. I just study the plan and that are few layers of the gravel and sand then reach the overflow pipe. Any body have done it before and have any spec have to take note? Have any method to construct it? Appreciate yours...
May be you can consider the original live load on this slab. Then suggest you to place the steel plate at least 16mm thick on your working crane and this will spread the loading on the rc slab. But be sure spreading of the loading must same or smaller than the original live load.
Recently I deal with one project that need to enlarge the existing footing due to the additional loading. I have some doubt to design it.
1.Is it possible to enlarge the footing because I’m not allowed to remove the existing footing?
2.The new footing area is base on the existing footing...
I have some doubt in steel design. Normally i based on the plastic modulus Sx= M/Py to find the steel section. But in case of c-channel, the channel must put in the "C" manner would be effective. If let say put in "n" manner and the load come in vertical, so is that i need to base on Sy to...
If the col1 is uplift force then the
Pnet = (-Pcol1)+(Pcol2). Correct?
so can i find out the footing size base on this Pnet? Because i'm not consider the uplift force. I assume it as downward force so i work up the size will be conservative.
If one uplift force and then one downward force...
Recently I analysis a combined pad footing. The combine pad footing has two stumps which is the one of the load is greater then another one about 3 times. The lighter load is uplift force. Could anybody help me?
1.Do I need to consider the uplift force in design the combine footing? If need...
