Dear Sir,
FYI, we run a several test for our LF2 material.
Charpy test at -46C- pass
Hardness test- average is 140HV
Tensile test- average is 450Mpa(requirment is 485Mpa).
Anybody can explain what the reason we failed the tensile test?
Thanks

Hi!, anybody can suggest the best material to use to suit with below requirments:
Composition – mostly catalyst solids, with small amount of fluidising air. The particles will have a mean dia of around 50 microns, but size will range froma few microns to several hundred microns. Solids...
The purchaser request for MPI for pressure containing part like ball, body and closure but doesn't mention which stage need to do test either at raw material or final machining.
Currently our forging supplier do UT test for the raw forging material(per heat no.) then once finish machining we do...
Dear All,
Is it necessary to do NDE or MPI for final machining component? Is there any possiblity that material can be cracked or defect after machining?
If any defect/crack is because of raw material or procedure of machining problem?
Thanks
Thanks Ed and Strider6,
Actually we already proposed to use 316 for the ball of the valve(our standard design).
But unfortunately, our customer want to change to F20, for us no problem to change it.Our problem is our material supplier not very familiar of this grade might very seldom produce in...
Dear All,
I would like to know how is the corrosion resistance performance between F20 and F316.In terms of chemical composition F20 has higher Nikel and Chromium compare to F316.
Is there any possiblity I do passivation or do nickel/chromium coating to F316 and gives same corrosion resistance...
How is the performance of the SS304 and SS316? I am very difficult to find hex socket cap screw(allen Key) in the markets with ss316 material. In the market more familiar with 304, some people commented that not much difference between both material in terms of corrosion.
We are Oil&gas valve manufacturer. My question is it necessary to use stainless steel dowel pin if the body is stainless steel? Is there any problem if I'm using 52100 material? Because I'm thinking that the dowel pin does not expose to the environment.
I'm choosing 52100 material because I...
Our company is API6D valve manufacturer. I have problem to source hex. socket cap screw with B7 material(this screw use for non pressure part). Can I use grd 10.9 to repalce with B7?
I found difficulty to source hex. socket cap screw with material L7M/B7. Most market only produce stainless steel and high tensile. In this case can I use stainlesssteel to replace L7M?
OK. I understood. The application is for valve(low temperature environment). For the big stud I still use L7M.
Only the small screw I wonder to use HT12.9. Because I found that the tensile strength much more higher than L7M but the elongation much smaller than L7M. Also the hardness much more...
Normally customer request for killed steel because the quality of casting is more better compare to non-killed steel.
Killed-steel means already fully deoxidation. Where if not done this method can cause porosity, highly inclusion etc.
In modern technology, normaly deoxdidation process is...
