    Pump Suction Piping Design Problem

JJPELLIN, I have two suggestions: 1)If hydraulic analysis, piping layout and piping flexibility are all favorable, then you can use 16" size with reducers of 16x10 and 10x6 welded together at pump suction but maintaining a minimum distance of 5D( 30 inch)from pump suction nozzle. To reduce...

    Minimum linepipe circumfrential Weld Separation

RangerBill, Refer PFI( Pipe Fabrication Institute)standard ES-7 Unfortunately,I am not having this with me now. This standard gives minimum distance between two welds on pipe. Probably this will help you. Regards, Prabir http://www.pfi-institute.org/

    CLAMP CONNECTOR Vs. PIPE FLANGE

Hello Everybody, Our company is using clamp connectors( Graylock,Techlok make) for pipe to pipe connections in pipelines for quite sometime as these are easy to install compared to conventional pipe flanges. This works well in pipelines where temperature is less than 200 deg.F. We now want to...

    D/t ratio for pipe

Hi All, Is there any standard or guideline which indicates or gives procedure to calculate D/t ratio of steel pipe from structural stability point of view.I have a 60" pipe having wall thickness 0.354",pressure is only 10 psig, support span is 100ft. Thickness is alright for 10 psig...

    PIPING STRESS ANALYSIS MODEL

I have modelled a piping system in CAESAR-II. While error checking it gives an error message " Bend Angle 45.000 specified for the bend element 75 to 80 is within 5.00 Deg of the bend far end point.Either use the bend far end point, node 80, or move the specified node more than 5.00 Deg away...

Friction coefficient between pipe saddle and steel rod underneath

Thanks John and Friend, Sorry, I did not indicate pipe thickness. It is 1.4 inch for 30" dia pipe.Hence pressure has little effect on flexibility.Moments are also within limit specified by pump vendor.Someone told me that 0.01 mu is very low.I am not convinced. What is your opinion. Thanks

Friction coefficient between pipe saddle and steel rod underneath

Hi Everybody, I am doing stress analysis of a 30" size pump discharge line having pressure of 1700 psi and temperature 200 deg. F.Forces on pump nozzle is coming very high.If I use steel rod under the pipe saddles assuming coefficient of friction 0.01 then the forces at nozzle are within...

hi, I want to know what coefficien

hi, I want to know what coefficient of friction is to be considered between bare steel pipe saddle and the structural member of piperack on which saddle is resting. Structural member of rack is coated with epoxy. Thanks
