it was a simple question. what do the data miners see as the fastest growing (worldwide) sectors of engineering. not the "next big thing". just the facts..
Thanks,
Scott
yep, enr has a decent report...
the environmental engineers have got a pretty good outlook. the structural guys are pretty much tied to the construction / real estate economy.
Thanks,
Scott
"......Meanwhile you get good at alot of things you dont really want to brag about on your resume."

Thanks,
Scott
how does one find the fastest growing segments worldwide? does the ENR track this?
oil & gas?
power & water?
etc.....
i am looking to dig up some good useful data. any USEFUL thoughts are welcome :)
thanks.

i hold a BSMET. then got a MSME (went back and took a few math classes). and also have a PE.
i went your option 2 route. the MSME certainly makes me comfortable with all math that i see. not so with my BSMET. i didn't need the MSME for the PE.
Thanks,
Scott

Thanks,

90% of the time construction is about finding the dog-ass cheapest price from each sub-contractor. then the gc adding his markup and voila... you have yourself a project. then the co's start flying. have done Millions of $ worth of work and have yet had an engineer ask to meet with the subs. 17...
aero and auto aren't really good industries to be in. i worked for boeing for 6 yrs. decide what about engineering it is that you like then find the companies that might have a better fit. boeing? how many resumes / applications have you sent? 100-200? or more?...
Thanks,
Scott
i am an engineer and also own a concrete construction company. we perform millions of dollars of work each year. when we are asked to bid a set of plans, that is what we do. especially in this hard bid / low bid environment. there is no negotiation with the GC's, architects, or engineers. we bid...
i like casseopeia's and ron's responses....
i would choose the do nothing alternative right now...
get the resume ready....
wait til the numnut leaves....then see what happens..
Thanks,
Scott
