What is the exact definition of a "ruled surface"?
I am writing procedures for my company and I need to inlcude this.
I know what it is as far as equally spaced points along two splines and direct lines between them and so on, but it would help if I could get the exact verbage.
I couldn't find...
How about this one then:
Is there a way to allow the number of rows in Excel govern the number of points in the model?
Right now, I have 24 points so I MUST have 24 rows in excel. I'd like to allow for more rows.
So if the excel file has 100 rows, the model should generate 100 points. Is...
I've modeled an impeller blade using x,y,z points read from an Excel spreadsheet. My goal is to have a model that can be used for many impellers simply by changing the Excel file.
A typical parameter is defined as follows:
p20 = ug_cell_read("C:\My Documents\spreadsheet.xls", "AE31")

Autocad 2006 with "Mechanical" package.
See file attached.
If I move this dimension on my machine, the problem will appear.

Recently, our CAD administrator modified our "new file" template. One of the things he changed was our dimension defaults. A new problem has appeared:
I can dimension an "inside" radius (i.e. fillet) as I always have, but if I move the location of the dimension, the arrow snaps to the outside...
Good info Hudson, thanks.
After monkeying around with this, I stumbled on a "solution".
The platform at the base of the airfoil is cylindrical, so I had modeled it as a cylinder, to be trimmed later.
For some reason, the face blend could not work with this cylinder. (I think it has to do with...
Thanks all.
It looks like the conic face blend is the way to go, but it can't wrap around the airfoil's leading edge. The blend fails here.
Gunman: I see FACE-BLEND... ISOPARAMETER in the help files, but I don't see it in my menus/toolbars. Is this in MODELING or another application?
Soft...
I am modeling a compressor blade in NX4. The blade calls for a "compound" or "eliptical" blend between the airfoil and platform. This means a small radius blend grows into a large radius blend between the two surfaces.
This is different from a variable blend where the user can select points...
