Thanks for the help everyone. I have managed to piece together enough information to build a small test rig. I have made some calcs that I have based the sizing on and the real test data will either prove or dis-prove my calcs.

I have found this on a Physics forum. Which would seem to solve it for me and I can take time steps every 0.1s until it is completed. How do I find out what the velocity of the air will be? Once I know this I can then calculate the flow rate through the different sizes of pipe. How do I know...
