Proximity probe vibration in relation to magnetism?

Thanks for shedding some light on this for me...I'll check out those articles you mentioned, electricpete. Thanks again!

Proximity probe vibration in relation to magnetism?

Please excuse me if I present this information in an unfamiliar manner, as I am very unfamiliar with Electric Motors and Magnetism. We have been experiencing times of high vibrations being read by proximity probes installed within a 3600 RPM, 3500 HP, Electic Motor. However, taking readings at...

Mechanical Seal face material and barrier fluid

Will Mobil 1 Synthetic based barrier fluids attack mechanical seals with Carbon vs. Tungsten Carbide faces?

Radio Communication interferring with Vibration Transmitters

What function will installing the capacitor and resistor in series do?

Radio Communication interferring with Vibration Transmitters

Has anyone experienced interference between hand held radios and vibration transmitters installed on rotating equipment? At our facility, the vibration transmitters installed on several compressors inadvertently go into a state of alarm when exposed to a near radio signal. This causes...

    Pilot operated PSV

Hey guys...For Crude oil application, we have a pilot operated pressure relief valve, set pressure of 235 psi, which has recently been "leaking by" with only 14-15 psi on the line. What are possible causes of this? There is a filter screen installed in the pilot sense line which may be plugged...

    PSV leaking by?

Could you elaborate a little more on the differential pressure conditions? Wouldn't the dome be seeing the same pressure as the inlet? and if so, the larger area would provide more force to keep the main valve closed.

Galvanic Corrosion potential on roof hatch of Crude Oil Tank...

No, it is not submerged in any fluid. It is located at the top of a crude oil storage tank, which is potentially a corrosive atmosphere.

Galvanic Corrosion potential on roof hatch of Crude Oil Tank...

No, it is not submerged in water. However, a corrosive atmosphere is present, as it is a crude oil storage tank.

Galvanic Corrosion potential on roof hatch of Crude Oil Tank...

gr2vessels....what do you mean by "good ole davit"?

Galvanic Corrosion potential on roof hatch of Crude Oil Tank...

    Well, its a completely steel hatch lid measuring 34 1/2" x 34 1/2". I'm not sure about it's thickness, maybe 1/4".

Galvanic Corrosion potential on roof hatch of Crude Oil Tank...

Currently the Crude Oil Storage Tanks at our facility have roof hatches that allow for inspection of the internal floating roofs. The hatch lid is made of Carbon Steel (not sure which type), however, it is very heavy for operators to lift regularly when inspecting the internal floating roof...

    bio-based hydraulic fluid versus petro-based?

Does anyone have experience with biodegradable hydraulic fluids and how they compare to typical petroleum based fluid when used in heavy machinery? How does their performance characteristics compare?

    motor bearing high temperature?

Yes. That is correct. It is a hollow shaft

    motor bearing high temperature?

I do not believe that the pump doscharge head contains its own thrust bearing, although I'm not really sure what you mean by that, dickon17. Electricpete, yes a temperature trend is available prior to shutdown and it should a steady increase in temp., not an instantaneous spike. The normal...

    motor bearing high temperature?

I'm having trouble diagnosing what may be causing the top motor bearing on a 5-stage vertical, centrifugal pump to shutdown on high temperature alarm. The motor was sent off for inspection. The following was returned on the inspection report: Prior to disassembly, a no load run test was done...

aluminum vs. steel plate in corrosive atmosphere?

The hatch is simply there to allow a means of looking in and inspecting the floating roof. Should I be concerned with anything else?

aluminum vs. steel plate in corrosive atmosphere?

Currently we have 3 large crude oil storage tanks with internal floating roofs, each has a 3' x 3' inspection hatch on the outer roof in order to look for excess oil which may have escaped and is sitting on the floating roof. The hatch itself is carbon steel which is extremely heavy. Would...

    Increase flow and pressure??

That is correct...we are recording a measurable increase in flow and corresponding increase in pressure on a vertical pump having crude oil as the pumping fluid. I must also add, the pump shutdown on high temperature alarm at the top motor bearing??
