Feeling like a total newb today - but I have to ask: Where did the 3D Text Tool get buried in NX6? I looked in the usual spots, but could not find the tool. HELP!

From previous GM experience - my answer would be to contact GM about the latest Toolkit and see if anyone there can walk you through it.

So... no push to Siemens NX6 as of yet? What about TeamCenter or TCVis?

Figure I would bump this up to the top - seeing that my inquiries at Siemens have been hazy. Has anyone in the community run into trouble when creating attribute fields with special characters - or used values with special characters?

For those that deal with the "meta data" side of the CAD world - i.e. storing material specs, vendor numbers, etc. - what have you seen as do's and don'ts for Attribute Nomenclature in NX6 - especially when you use those Attributes with the rest of the Siemens family of products, like TeamCenter...

Ladies and Gents, Working on a project where functionality was "enhanced" by a series of regeditted drop down additions. Honestly, it has been a long time since I did regedits - so does anyone have a good regedit guidebook, especially for Siemens products?

Okay... what version of NX are you using? Also, what is the OS of the computer that you are using NX on?

NXConsultants - actually, I did take the BBS route on the Siemens sight first, as well as nag what contacts I have with Siemens, before I appealled to the audience here.

I would agree with Hudson888 and check the defaults - something is just not right with this scenario.

When you say it is working correctly for other people in the department - they are translating over the same (component, subassembly, assembly?) or their own files?

You will be surprised NXConsultants at lack of depth with TCVis, even within the confines of the PLM folks.

<sigh> Thanks Hudson - just trying to make a ripple or two in a rather quiet pond, to see baubs up to the surface. In all seriousness, while it is nice to see a guy like John Baker on the UG side of the house, it is not so nice to not see if there is a TCVis counterpart.

Thanks Hudson - I may have to do the manual assembly procedure that you mentioned in your last sentence. Trouble with trying to do tasks when half the staff is on holiday is losing the knowledge base of the department.

Quick question - if I am attempting to run a translation of NX6 .prt files to TCVis 2007 .jt format - is there an upper limit of the number of .prt files that can be translated via the run_ugtopv program?
