Repads welded without telltale hole. How can we fix that?

Why bother tapping the hole unless you want to air test the repad?

    API-12F Conection Tolerence Question

API 12F is a "cook book" standard. It does not address any of the design considerations including tolerances of API 650. Better you use API 650 as a reference & then go from there. Good luck!

Time for Field Erection of Large Tanks

Your question is lacking a lot of info. 1. Are you talking about a single tank or all of the sizes being erected at at the same time at site? 2. Are the tanks insulated? 3. Are the tanks internally coated?

    E-Tank Software

I suggest trying its@innovativetanksolutions.com before deciding.

    API Monogram QC Manual

You don't need a QC Manual for API 12F Tanks. It's a "cook book" standard. Just follow the directions, stir and hope that the tank doesn't fail. There is a question today about the future of a standard such as this that doesn't require (just suggests)qualified welders & welding procedures...

Painting of bootom plates + cathodic protection

First of all, is the tank shop fabricated or field erected. If shop fabricated, a properly applied Coal Tar Epoxy is ample without additional cathodic protection. Just be careful when the tank is installed that the surface is not damaged. If field erected, it is not practical to coat the bottom...

    Internal Pressure

Duwe6 should check his calcs. 3/16" Plate weighs 7.65 PSF which equates to 0.85 oz./sq.in. Using a "heel" of liquid does not comply with API 650. You must satisfy Par. 5.11.2, both criteria. The moment of liquid (MF)in formula 2, uses an annulus around the inside, 1/2 the height of the shell...

API 650 Tank with a Rolled Bottom Ring

From looking at the photos and your description, it appears the tank is being anchored by holding down the floor or something attached to the floor. Shame on the tank fabricator! He doesn't understand the API 650 requirement of anchoring the shell. Better not use this fabricator again! Solution...

    atmospheric AST without emergency vent

Why take a chance? Do the API 2000 calcs. based on hepthane and install the emergency vent (for these small tanks, the EV's won't have to be very large). If you consider the alternate circumstances, it's not worth risk. PS - tanks this small can not be considered having frangible roofs.

    adding N2 blanket to tank

We design API 650 tanks all the time with N2 gas blankets. An example would be a 100,000 BBL tank, design pressure 3.5 kPa, tank connected to a VRU, gas blanket pressure kept below PVRV set pressure which for this case woulod be approx. 3.0 kPa.

    Cost of a new tank

You've got to be kidding? Even if someone answered this question, this is the wrong place to request costs like this. contact one of you local storage tank suppliers. They will be glad to give you a budget price, but be prepared to supply additional information so they can supply a reliable...

Using a TRUSS as a WINDGIRDER

I'm assuming this is a close top tank. Why not consider reversing the procedue as if you were erecting a new tank? Attach similar guy wire stays to the top shell course as if you were erecting the tank and hadn't yet installed the roof. Once the tank is stablized, you can remove the old roof...

    ULC S601-07 Diesel Storage Tank

MJ Cronin Quite the contrary, in Canada the majority of these tanks are located outdoors, though I do agree that the majority contain gasoline, fuel oil or some other hydrocarbons. I don't understand your reference to indoors and modest corrosion. Are you suggesting exterior corrosion if...

    ULC S601-07 Diesel Storage Tank

ULC S601-07 is a Canadian National Standard that covers the design of Shop Faricated, Single & Double-walled, Horizontal & Vertical A/G Storage Tanks. It is a "cookbook" standard (just like API 12F is) and allows no freedom of design. The manufacturers of these tanks must be certified by ULC and...

    Storage Tank Foundation Settlement

I would appreciate hearing from anyone that has had experience in storage tank settlements, both uniformly & differentially.API 650 doesn't address this very much that I can find other than:Par. 5.10.4.7 d. "The columns shall be effectively....in the event of vertical movement of the columns...

Tank bottom / foundation interface water ingress protection

If this is an API 650 field erected tank, crown the center to the outside as the standard recommends in Appendix B. This will assist in drainage. If you have an tank bottom annular ring, make sure you are specifying a concrete retaining ring. Also, select a contractor that has experience in...

    Shop Fabricated Tank Size

In Canada, specifically Alberta, we can ship items as wide as 24 ft. on special low-bed trucks. When writing a tank specification using API 650 Appendix F as the reference, we re-word par. J.1.1 (modification) so as to allow up to 7.163 m (23.5 ft.) Dia. tanks. The reason we max. out at 23.5 ft...
