I have a thermal model of a rubber hose that houses a heat-generating device. There is a stagnent fluid inside the hose and around the heat generating device, and outer hose wall is held at a constant temperature. So far I have assumed only conductive heat transfer but in reality the fluid...
I'm looking for electronic tutorials on Pro/Cable. I havent been able to find anything useful on Google. I'm usually pretty good at figuring software out, but this is quite unintuitive.
If anyone knows of any downloadable tutorials, please let me know.
Many thanks in advance,
ISOPAR - L from Exxon Mobil Chemical.
I can't find these anywhere - neither can Exxon Chemical. Exxon has various distributors but none of them have it either. My only hope is if someone else did tests.
I need Cp and K values to do an honest analysis. If anyone knows anything, enlighten us...
I'm designing a spring with spring washers (belleville type).
I'm looking for formulas to calculate the damping / frictional effects of stacking them unidirectionally.
The stress / deflection formulas are easily found.
Many thanks to everyone. I agree that good texts alone don't make a good engineer.
Some of those I've heard of, some not. My next move is to do a little reading up on each book and possible drop some $$ off at amazon, half or ebay.
It seems there is considerable cost difference in getting...
I got the HP 49g, TI-36X Solar (for use on FE Exam), TI-83 and TI-85.
While in school I kept finding calculators (TI). I purchased the 49g because you can use rpn or standard, whatever your flavor.
For a pocket calculator, I'd recommend the TI-36X. It doesnt use batteries and the does the...
I'm just starting out in design engineering. I'm looking for resources (books, pdf, websites, etc) for all the stuff they don't teach in school:
1. Manufacturing processes
a. CNC and non-CNC
b. Designing plastic / elastomer products and processes
c. Design of Weldments
d. Cost...
I need to do a calc that involves an inclined plate at some arbitrary angle with fluid flow around it. More specifically, the plate pivots about an axis, and I'm looking to express the reaction moment (for steady state conditions) about its pivot axis as a function of inclined angle, fluid...

Anyone know of good resource(s) for pinned joint design in a linkage:
1. Pin sizing
2. Lug sizing
3. Bushing sizing / material
4. Typical pinned joint designs (cross sections)
Everything is alloy steel except the bushing. All pins are double shear. Environment is slightly corrosive, so...
This isn't a fatigue problem; we're only talking a few cycles in its lifetime. 99% of the time its dormant.
As far as geometry, I dont have pictures, but think of a one-sided waffle iron. A large steel plate, 2.5" thick, with a square hogout pattern. MAterial will probably be either HY80 or...
I have an application with a steel plate hogout, with webs (stiffeners) machined in. This plate will be subjected to bending such that the webs will experience both tension and compression.
The plate is weight sensitive (less=better), so I'd like a deeper plate with very thin webs, however...
