Alright ladies and gentlemen,
Trying to upgrade my home computer for working at home on Solidworks.
Computer Specs: Proc: i7 2.6 GHz
Ram: 6Gb DDR3
Nvidia 9400 GT 1GB
I know that the video card is limiting me...
Ok Gents,
Well I have not used Access just yet, but I can learn. (seems to be what engineers do everyday)
My PDM system is PDMworks with Solidworks. There is a limited number of seats for this and is confusing for someone who hasn't used it previously so I would not want to use that.
Thanks...
Hello all,
Currently our ECN system is anitquated and needs to be updated. When we need to distribute our ECN packages we e-mail it our to people on the routing list, but also need to have everyone sign it for evidence of communication. We would like to change to a system similar to outlook...
My worst boss:
We shall call him MR. Anyway, he was a supposed machinist before he went back to school and became an engineer. He had never passed the FE or EIT exam, however he always felt his intellect was far superior than anyone else's. Plenty of times I or a co-worker would submit...
Well that would be fine to begin with, however I am going to have to do this for 50 parts. I would like to find out how to do this for the one parts in complete form then reproduce for all others.

I am personally having problems with the mesh control as well. My thread is in "SW Sim09 Meshing Help" and you can see my problems. I am probably going to complain to Solidworks personally covering this type of problem.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Everyone I talk seems to be blown away by this. It is ok to admit when we don't know the answer, but I would at least like to know that this is not an easy solution.

Here is a picture of the mesh I get with beam elements. The differences in the picture will show you that the mesh thinks there are many connections that are not really there. http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=40bebc2b-b64d-46df-8b4b-5c9276abe5dc&file=m90zx_basket_mesh_for_cosmos.jpg
Well, now I have tried that and have actually gotten it to mesh, however the joints and connections are weird. Is there a way to modify joints and connections in SW Sim09??
Hello Gents,
I am attempting to create a stronger wire basket. I would like to use simulation to find the stress points for said basket. However I cannot get the program to mesh the model. I have created the model as one solid part. I have merged all bodies into one solid body. After the comp...
What is the difference between all Engineering levels?
Like Engineer I, Engineer II, Engineer III, Engineer IV?
Someone told me I need to have a paper certification to be considered any of these. So does that mean there are tests to be passed for these qualifications?
Any info you people would...
Here at work we deal alot with welding wires together. Well my quality engineer is trying to develop a way to show that a certain weld set down will resist to a certain torque without breaking or showing fatigue. I am sure there are equations for this and handbooks, but have not found such yet...
Sorry I haven't replied in a long while. Anyway, I have been able to get a hold of the Chem E Handbook you spoke of, or rather an e-book version. Should be good to start with. Thanks all.
Thanks gents for all your comments and advise. I have looked into getting on with someone needing entry-level engineers, but haven't quite made it there yet. I have 4 years of Solidworks experience and am learning CosmosWorks, Ansys, and Femap as soon as I possibly can.
I have been in engineering for about two years now. I am a pretty good designer and would like to advance my careers now. I am in Oklahoma and the best jobs for the surrounding area are for Drilling Engineers, Pump Engineers, or Pressure Vessel Engineers. I would like to get into the pressure...
Well after reviewing some comments, I realize that my original information is incorrect. The angle should be 71.5 for pre-load from zero. I assumed the info to be correct and didn't check it.
The arm length is given, not directly, but if there is a length of one side and an angle then you...
