The AHJ questioning the FDC tie-in location contacted NFPA who informed them that the FDC location (tied into secondary main) was acceptable per NFPA 13 Requirements.
Thank you all for your help and responses!

There are 14 - 1 1/4" branchlines.
The total length of 2" main piping (east to west) from the first branchline to the last is 138'-0"
We tried explaining how the multiple branchlines feed each main. And that this grid works hydraulically (2 calc area's).
I don't...
I have a small 13,000 sqft rectangle non-combustible single story building. The single light hazard 2" wet system riser is in the back (south side) of the building. I have a 2" primary main running east & west at the back of the building fed from the 2" riser and a floating 2" secondary main...
There is nothing illegal about what I am practicing. Texas only requires an RME license which can be obtained by a PE or a NICET Level 3 sprinkler designer. Same for Oklahoma & Arkansas.
I maintained an RME license in Texas for about 15 years.
One thing I failed to specify in my post was that I am not a PE, I am just a Nicet Level 3 fire sprinkler designer. The only thing on these plans that reference me is my initials in the title block as this fire sprinkler company has it's own State License and it's own State RME License which I...
The local permitting department was whom I contacted to find out if any fire sprinkler plans had been submitted for this project. Dallas uses a third party plan reviewer/reviewers. The permitting person told me the plans were being reviewed and would be on his desk the following Monday. I...
I designed a fire sprinkler system for a fire sprinkler contractor whom has never paid me. I do not have a signed contract but I do have an email where he agreed to pay the amount I quoted for the design of this project. I gave them the complete plans & calcs in November of 2016. The fire...

Thanks again for the reply!!
We've already had a meeting at the City Code Official's office.
The Architect was there and he was no help. He would just assume
we install an NFPA 13 system in the building but the owner wants
an NFPA 13R. The Architect is trying to spend the owners money...
Thank you for your reply!
Yes, there will be draft stops every 3000 sqft or two guest rooms per IBC.
The only thing in question is the City Code Official is saying the Breakfast seating
area is "Assembly" and the sqft of that space will determine if it is a NFPA13 or NFPA 13R.
Nothing else is...
4-story wood structure hotel with no retail or public spaces such as a restaurant or bar.
Building Official says the whole building has to be an NFPA 13 system because breakfast seating area
is considered "Assembly" and there is no horizontal fire barrier between the first & second floor.
They...
Is there any written code in NFPA or other that states a rule or formula that says multiple risers can be fed from one underground fireline?
I've never been questioned on this practice until now, nor can I find anything to back it up. I have an existing 500,000 sqft warehouse bldg that has 12...
Go to your "Autocad 14" icon on your desktop. Right click on it and pick "properties", then pick the "Compatibility" tab. Make sure the box next to "run this progran in compatibility mode for:" is NOT checked.
Mine was "checked" and set to...
PROBLEM SOLVED!!! I figured it out myself. For some reason I had changed the compatability (right click desktop icon) from "none" to "Windows 95/98". I switched it back to "none" and it now plots like a champ!!
