Sounds like you need to implement ASME Y-14.35M-1997 to get your revision practices under control. Start with a gap analysis.

I once had a job where I could work 5am-1pm with a commute of 40 minutes each way. I was in heaven. I lived right on the St. John's River in Florida. In summer the sun would go down around 8-8:30 so I would get home with at least 6 hours of daylight left. I had a dock to fish off of, my boat...

I agree with your position with one caveat: clause 1.1.3 of ASME Y-14.5M-1994 states, "Where drawings are based on this Standard, this fact shall be noted on the drawings or in a document referenced on the drawings. References to this Standard shall state ASME Y-1.45M-1994."

I'm with you, Ziggi. There was a time when I would cheerfully work 50 to 70 hour weeks but I have better things to do now. I never had kids of my own and now I have a wonderful girlfriend whose kids have begun to call me Dad and the grandkids call me Grandpa. I'm not going to chain myself to...
I'm fortunate to work for a company that firmly believes in 8 hour days and forty hour weeks. In fact, I will probably come in for half a day on Saturday this week, but that will be the first OT I've worked in months.

If you are in the US, MSC has them on page 1323 of their 2006/2007 catalog for a little over $20 each. If you don't have an MSC account, just about any manufacturing supply hous will carry them.

I was fairly sure that would be your answer, but to reverse the old adage, I prefer to ask permission, not forgiveness.

With your permission I would like to quote your quote and show it to some folks here. Please let me know if that is ok with you.

In an auto industry plant where we had an extensive in-process inspection crew, we had a changeover procedure for the CNC machinery that prevented that kind of mixing. The person performing the changeover first removed everything specific to the previous setup - fixturing, gaging etc. and...

In vast majority of cases you will find that it requires fewer gage blocks to build your stack using an 81-pc set, thus reducing your stacking uncertainty. You also will spead out the gage wear over a larger set of blocks. I always felt that the longer gage life obtained plus the...
McLeod,
I'll quote ASME Y14.100, 4.26.6j in full:
"Notes shall not include contractural requirements such as statements of costs; time and place of delivery; methods of payment; and requirements of for submission, approval, or distribution of data, reports, or plans."

We are already doing a trial on Kolserising. The process I described above is Low Temperature Colossal Supersaturation. Here is what I was told by a rep at Swagelok a few weeks ago:
Below is what one of our LTCSS representatives had to say about commercializing the process...
We put it on the drawing because that is the one document that everyone sees - engineering, purchasing, suppliers, supplier quality, production, and testing. That just works for us.

Yup, that's how we do it. Say the note that says "Certificate of Conformance Required" is note 4 on the drawing. We make that a flagnote by encasing the number in a hexagon and then place a hexagon symbol next to any specs that we want certified.

I work for a manufacturer of large, mostly diesel-driven water pumps. We have an emergency respose team that has responded to Katrina, the 2004 hurricanes here in Florida, 9/11, and various other crises. Here is an exerpt from an article from a trade magazine.

How about this one? If you tighten it and it strips, it's a screw. If you tighten it and the head snaps off, it's a bolt.

I've been at this crap for 26 years and never knew that was how that major diameters of numbered threads was derived. I emailed my Dad (a retired tool and die maker) and asked him if he knew about that formula. I then went on and (the Devil made me do it) told him that it is just...
We specify 'certs required on our drawing when certs are required for special processes because Supplier Quality never sees the P.O. This way everyone knows that the material should be accompanied by the certifications.
