Greeting-
I work as a mech-e in Semicon industry and have a question on what type of drawing this should be.
Exclusively all our drawings are either, mechanical, electrical and some facilities. Our company purchasers deal with machine & sheet metal shops and cable houses for electrical...
Does anyone know if the text (not Headers) within the revision description of a rev table or block is left or center justified?
I searched on this website and within a drafting book and found nothing that mentions this.

Thanks EWH and Chris,
been many decades since I've used a drafting board..
Ahh the smell of Buttercut oil and metal chips.. Unfortunately our company doesn't have and in-house machine shop and I believe most have never even been to one..
Thanks Chris.
I do have an additional questions. I work in a group of 8 ME's, probably 3, including myself have years of drafting experience, the remainder are fresh out of college. Would anyone recommend having these folks, do drawing first to get their drafting skills up before designing or not?
Greetings-
Can anyone recommend a decent drafting book for mechanical engineers. A few of the Green mechanical engineers seem to lack basic drafting skills

We are using a Festo air n/c pinch valve in a harsh environment with copper oxide powder. I've noticed the breather vent seems to be dirty with CuO powder and might be effecting the pinch valve orifice opening size and the time to open. my question is do breather vents become...
Okay some updates:
The TuffCoat finishing will be in contact with a Silicon Nitrate wafer. So my concern is which material harder on the Moh's scale or scratch resistance the Silicon Nitrate wafer or the Tuffcoar finishing (which is alumina oxide)

We have a 6061-T651 aluminum piece that is hard coat and they PTFE sprayed. Our customer is highly concerned in their application how hard this material is. From my research everything points to Rockwell C 60-70 but what would that be in Mohs? what is the conversion factor? I had one place...
Thanks for the tips, but I switched our CAD from Creo to Solidworks, the main reason being was work productivity. As the only user at my company, Creo has such a steep learning curve and so un-intuitive to use (esp the drafting module) that the work was piling higher and higher to the point...
mwessel-
You have my sympathies, I've been using Creo for 4 weeks, since I started my job, and I can not master it.
In the meantime, my employer doesn't want to pay for training and they are getting concerned because I'm not producing. To make matters worst I'm the only ME here with one seat...
Recently I had a phone interview with HR, for a Senior R&D Mech-E position. Its a small outfit US headquarters, but part of a larger EU company that make metering flow valves, which I have very little experience with. I sent over some portfolio examples to HR and it impressed the hiring...
So today I have an interview and what are some good questions I should be asking the director of engineering?
I was thinking about describing their ECO and PO process. The reason I considering asking these question is where I'm currently working these process are in such a disarray it impact...
So I had a phone interview, went well. I'm scheduled for an onsite interview this Wednesday and was asked to bring a portfolio of projects I've worked on, which will be about 3-4 pieces.
Having IP material in a portfolio is like bring Pepsi's secret recipe to a Coke Cola interview. Product...
Yup rambling has always been a slight problem for me on interviews and has cost me jobs.. I've gotten better over time by more company presentations. As a friend told me, YOU have to interview the company and hiring team and ask the tough questions as well. If you walk away from the interview...
Thank you for the feed back. I have a bunch of product pictures, what would be considered the right amount to bring 3-4 pictures? What about examples of detail drawings or should I pass on that?
One other thing I've noticed when showing a product picture is I paint myself into a corner. For...
Interesting feedback..
How about if I just brought a picture of a product I worked on as a visual representation. the company I interviewing at designs bio tech instruments, which what I've done many times in the past. Sometimes its hard to describe what you've done without some material to...
I have a question in how to prepare for an Senior Mechanical Engineer interview. In past interviews I've brought a portfolio with past projects I've worked on. I've brought product pictures, some detail drawing of sheet metal, machined and wiring drawings plus some product tree drawings...
THLS-
Thats what I'm up in arms about we have 1800 employees and one ME (me) and some of the folks in SCM, CM, etc come from Lockheed, Raytheon and want to institute all the manufacutring procedures within a software company that is outsource most of its mechanical engineering to a contract...
