I have a link with a curved slot in it that a rod slips through. The link should be able to slide and rotate at the same time along the length of the slot but I can't seem to mate it in a way that allows this to happen. I tried searching this forum, but really didn't know what to look for...

I can't recreate it yet. Hole wizard seems to work fine. Did you disable antivirus when you installed?

I rarely use welments, but when I do it makes more sense to use technique 1 using the weldment for the basic framework. External attachments to that framework are made as just that, external attachments.

You should be able to use solidworks explorer to make multiple copies quickly and then go back to solidworks and insert them into your assembly. Is there some reason this won't work for you?

Just a quick little update. There are never any mate errors, just overdefine warnings. And usually if I just keep working and adding more mates, they dissappear completely. Or I can go and suppress a couple and then unsuppress and all the warnings are cleared. I know I've seen this in 04...

If this doesn't get any better, I'll be uninstalling and going back to 05 at the end of the day. I'm spending half of each day re-attaching mates. It seems like every time I get things right, save a model and reopen, the mates are all messed up. Is anybody else having this much trouble?
