    Need to calculate divergent flow

I am aware that two 18's are not the same as a single 24 but I was trying to get the flow "moving" in the larger 24 first and then once it has some momentum tranistion it into the twin 18's. I also realized my WSPG model was not working properly and have corrected the problem. Also I think I...

    Typical flow velocities in RCP

This is a second part to my other thread "Need to calculate divergent flow". Using WSPG, I have modeled a single 24-inch line necking down to a single 18-inch with 23 CFS but the velocities become very high, on the order of 30-35 feet per second (Like 20-25MPH!). Is this common in RCP? The...

    Need to calculate divergent flow

I have a project where due to limited vertical clearance I have been asked by the City plan checker to neck a 24-inch RCP down to twin 18-inch lines in the downstream direction. I have not been able to find any standard details for structures designed to split flow from one into two lines. So...

    dry well design

Less than 0.714 cubic foot per hour is not very much so that is good. What are the units on the K value? ft/hour? cm/sec? Probably a good place to start would be to get a copy of the soil report, assuming your project has one (ask civil engineer), and look at the boring logs. Looking at the...

    Determination of ESAL's

Hi, does anyone have an outline of how to determine ESAL? The project that I am working on has a large semi showing up a couple of times a week and we have been asked to design the pavement accordingly. The geotechnical engineer has not been any help on this. Thanks.

Maximum allowable velocity in public water mains???

I have a site with a several fire hydrants and a 50,000sf building on site and the client is requiring that the maximum allowable velocity in the site water lines be kept at 10fps or less. Is this typical practice to use this as a limit for on site fire and water lines?

Traffic Index, what does it really mean?

I was asking about the Traffic Index (TI) used for desing of a pavement section. I found out today that it is really just a number that correlates to the expected Equialent Single Axle Loads (ESAL's) for a given road section. This TI value is then used in conjuction with a soil's R value for...

Traffic Index, what does it really mean?

Hi, I have been asked to educate one of my my clients on what Traffic Index really means. I have not found any good resources that really explain it well. Thanks in advance
