Anyway to extract coordinates into excel file?

You can get a lot of good training on cad at your local Junior college. This is generally much cheaper and the info is usually as good. Also ask your local CAD Vendors they usually hold specialized classes. And lastly watch Autodesk website for seminars coming to your town.

    Adding a word doc

Does any one know if ACAD has a limitation on the size of a word document that can cut and pasted into ACAD (Version 2002). I have a document that is two pages long and when I paste it into ACAD it truncates at the page break. I increased the paper size inside word, in hopes that would help...

    Turbocad vs Autocad

I haven't used turbocad since the days of DOS. At the time it was great to play around with at home but from a professional stand point I found it to be weak. I understand it has gotten considerably better since then. You can check out this review page...

    AutoCAD employed or NOT

I am actually going through the hiring process right now, to get some one to fill my position. I am moving up and I need some one to take my place. This is the first time that I have ever been asked help in a hiring process, and quite frankly I am a little nervous about it. I want to choose the...

linking single cells to AutoCAD LT

I realy have'nt delt much with Acad lt, but I am guessing that OLE is one thing that lt shares with acad. And to answer your question yes you can link an individual cell to your drawing. Simply highlight the cell you wish to paste into the drawing, right click and select copy. Open the drawing...

    Change ext. .BAK to .DWG

dsi is correct. Open Windows Explorer right click on the file, select rename, and rename the file with the same name but change the .bak to .dwg. You will get a message something similar to "renaming this file may change the format and keep it from working" The message is far from...

    Autocad incomplete shutdown

First of all, it sounds like a mem problem. How many processes do you have running, and how much mem is on the machine? Second Why are you running two sessions of Autocad Lt? As of release 2000 Autocad has MDI ( Multiple document interface) that allows you to open several drawings at one time...

Drawings that we have contain error

This all depends on the type of errors you are having. If you are opening the drawings from a CD then they will be read only drawings, so if the contractor had special fonts that they did supply you with you would get error messages. Autocad would then proceed to open with a default font; but...

    Acad2002 Layer Settings not saving

YEP VISRETAIN is the easier way of doing it. I knew there was a system variable for it, I just couldn't remember what it was.

    Acad2002 Layer Settings not saving

your drawing will keep the state of the original xrefed file. If the original drawing of an xrefed file has certain layers on, then they will be on each time you open the drawing that has the xrefed file attached. What I do is use layer manager to toggle on and off certain layers. In the drawing...

    3D traslation to AutoCad 2000

The best way would be iges in, Unfortunatley Autodesk and their infinate wisdom decided to discontinue iges as part of autocad translation; however, there is hope. XChangeworks has a free plugin for Autocad that will allow iges imports. Here is the web address for them http://www.xchangeworks.com/

how to open autocad 2002 files from windows

Does Autocad open OK by it's self? If so how did you go about associating the file? If not, what is the error message when you try to open Autocad?

16 Button mouse vs. Standard mouse

It's been some time since I last visited this forum. This is one topic that I just had to chime in on. I've been drawing with acad since r10. I have always used a mouse. back when I started the puck and tablet were definiatley faster than I was. One of my best friends always gave me a hard time...

    Plotter problem

Thanks for your reply I had already gone in and changed the settings under options. What I had forgotten to do was the page setup (doh!). Sometimes the simplest things give us the biggest headaches. Anyway that did the trick I'm giving you a star for reminding me of what should have been obvious.
