    Flex an Assembly in SW2009

I tried a example of saving an assembly as a part and I got the template dialog box for making a new item. The example was not saved as anything.

Do you have a centerline to revolve around?

    detail views

I have had that problem too. I had to add superficial lines to dimension, if I don't have the room to just show the whole view. They are not pinned down so as I work or open/close, they get thrown off.

    Level of Transparency

You can change each part in your assembly to get the desired effect. In a part, tools-options-doc properties-color- Click "Apply same color to wireframe..." and then go to advanced and move the transparency control to the right. The advanced will be greyed out if the "Apply..." is not on. I have...

    ASME Part's list standard

We follow ASME standard pretty closely as far as revisions. If the change is still a bolt, the P/N and size can be revised, keeping the same find no. If your assembly was reconfigured so much that now the fastener is not used than that find no. could not be used for other components. In...

    Percussive Arc Welding Electrodes

Everyone is knows that google exists. I am sure that there are members of this site that have some experience with percussive arc welding component holder alloys, and would be free to share their experience with the engineering community.

    Percussive Arc Welding Electrodes

I would like to set up a percussive arc welding operation and would like to know that the best copper alloy would be for the electrode holders of the parts that would come together to be perc. arc welded.

Expanded use of ALL AROUND Symbol

I have drawn a simple die with a square clearance cut of .06" all around the female feature, a square with radiussed corners, on the bottom side. I had the circle on the leader to imply the .06" was all around the feature. After reading this post, my interpretation is that the circle is used...

    Global vs detail oriented brain

The reply email to all was a message to you that your boss and coworkers can be backstabbers. I have worked in many places and this can be a routine in some or non-existent in others. I have since developed a thick skin to prevent such things. I use it when necessary. To reply to the meeting...

Leave Stable but Boring Job at a Risk?

I have been with a company for 4 years now, Mfg. Eng and design(age 46 yrs, have AS in Mfg. Eng). After the first year it got really boring. Things don't happen too fast in this mature organization. My boss has given me better than average reviews with little complaint. I can do the work in 1/4...

Editing a Sketch Requires deleting Twice in 2008

I am using 2008 2.1. In a sketch with multiple lines, some delete the first time and some on the second delete. When it takes two times, the line changes to green first and then go away on the second delete.

Editing a Sketch Requires deleting Twice in 2008

I have noticed a new feature in Solidworks 2008 that makes it necessary to delete a line, dimension, etc. in a sketch twice before it goes away. Is this something a bored SW Engineer came up with to add unecessary work? Does anyone know how to undo this annoyance? I have looked in the most...

    Tolerance and Decimal Place Settings

Does anyone know how make it faster to assign different dimension tolerances and decimal places while dimensioning a drawing in Acad 2004? I am using dimension-style-overide-tolerances, and making the desired setting, for each type of dim I am making; symmetrical, deviation, etc. Too time consuming!

Silver Oxide powder rolling to produce a slab

I would like to make a slab out of silver oxide powder with the silver applied to a mesh. I was thinking of a cold two stage rolling operation using paper on each side as a web. I am thinking I may need a binder mixed with the silver or sprayed onto the grid. Does anyone have any input on this...

Autocad 2005 plot paper size default

After I set up the plotter manager with the paper size I want for a drawing, and plot it, I get a different paper size (Arch D)listed in the paper selection box of the plot dialog box. If I select the one I want again, and then preview the plot, the paper reverts back to this unwanted paper...
