    unassigned materials

Hi; According to QW-424.1 we should perform seperate PQR to qualify unassigned materials. If we have a PQR for A572-Gr50 and we want to weld St52-3 which is equivalent to A572-Gr50, is it necessary to perform another PQR or we can consider it as P No.1 and use P No.1 PQR?

    Minimum weld joints distance

Hello, Thank you so much for your replies. I had a problem and couldn't check the replies until now. All of the replies were great, but my problem is this: sometimes our subcontractors make some mistakes in cutting, ... and it causes the weld joint distance less than 30 or 40 mm. then they ask...

NDT of Nonpressure part in a tank

we want to weld some carbon steel pipes together, in a tank (butt weld). These pipes are not pressure part and are used as internals. Is is necessory to do RT or MT is enough? and why? We, as a client, say that RT shall be done, but our subcontractor thinks that MT is OK!

    Subtitution of filler metals

If we use filler (SG2) instead of ER70S-6, shall we qualify our WPS with a new PQR? (As you know SG2 is in DIN 8559 and is equivalent to ER70S-6, but it is not listed in ASME.)

Difference between "elongation" and "computed elongation"

What is the difference between "elongation" and "computed elongation" in ASME Sec. II (e.g. SA213)? Can we use "computed elongation" instead of "elongation" while we are working according to ASME Sec. VIII div. 1?
