Was trying to help a coworker who needed the drawing in autocad.
I've done this conversion many times without any headache. I'm surprised that Solidworks converts so well to AutoCAD. Just wondering why now the hiccup.
What could I be doing wrong.
I have three views in a solidworks drawing file (.SLDDRW).
Tried to save-as dwg. Solidworks converts the drawing to autocad, but the views are missing in the autocad converted file. The titleblock, dimensions, and text come along, but no drawing geometry.
Any ideas...
Is there a way to change the options defaults without using templates?
If I create a new part or drawing without going through a template it always defaults to ISO in the document options and custom units. Can I change this default without having to make a template? I would think you should be...
In AutoCAD I can save the menu files (.mnc, .mnr, .mns)and load them on a session of autocad that hasn't been customized, or if I need to reload them.
Is there a way to do that in DraftSight. I looked in the help, but it doesn't seem to give a decent explanation.

I figured it out. You can save and name current layer states. Restore them from a list in the layer properties manager.

I'm using AutoCAD 2002. Yes I know I'm dated.
This is what I'm trying to do. Let say you have layer a and layer b on. By those being on autocad will automatically shut off or freeze layer c and layer d and vice versa.
Is there an easy way to do this without having to write a lisp routine?

This is driving me nuts. If I move the the crosshairs the vertical crosshair will blink on and off as I move it around.
If I use a basic command like earse, copy, etc. the pickbox will blink as I move it around. If I try to window something the window will blink and act very slowly.

I was looking for an easy way to combine the geometry in model space and the text, titleblock, etc. that was on the layout tab. I just copied and paste, then scaled up what was on the layout tab in a new session of AutoCad. Seemed to work. Thanks for your response.
I'm trying to import a solid model from one file to another. The other file contians the assembly that uses the solid model part.

For some strange reason I have a part in a drawing file hidden. You can see in the FeatureManager Design tree the part is grayed out. I tried "right clicking" on it to see if I can unhide it. But I'm not getting that option.

It's working. I had the draft quality option selected in the Display Style section of the Property Manager. Switched it to high quality and I could see the hidden objects.
