The simplified Leung method for evaluating the quantity and quality of two phase flow from vessels exposed to external fire gives extremely high values for liquid flow with very small vessels (25-200 litres in our case) and consequently disproprtionately large vent headers. Flowrates calculated...
Wetted contact area is central to the API 520 calculation for determining heat input from external fire to the contents of vessels and the sizing of relief devices. Is this applicable to very small vessels, say 25 - 30 litres, where surface are:volume ratio is disproprtionately high?
Can capacitance be used to generate signals (say 4-20mA) proportional to varying level of liquid in a vessel rather than simply detecting an interface and being used as a switching device?
