    Need an honest answer

As a woman in a project management role, I use my advantages to the fullest. If I have a "stupid" question, the guys on the shop floor are a lot more patient with me asking it than they would be if I were a male asking the same question. I'd be an idiot to not use all of the advantages there...

    ASME Codes for Sensors

http://www.induscan.com/links.htm This page has links to all the regulatory authorities in Canada. You could check with one of them, generally they are quite helpful.

    UG-42

When you have two or more openings that are close together as described in UG-42(b) and (c) then the limits of reinforcement for each of the nozzles is overlapping, so you cannot use that shell material in your reinforcement alculations.

    compressor design

Many compressor manufacturer's offer compressor design courses. You might try checking the website of the manufacturer that you deal with the most.

    UW-9 (d) of ASME Section.VIII Div.1

To put it in very simple terms; for the same reason that bricklayers stagger bricks and dont just stack them one on top of the other.

How many hours per week do you work?

7am till 5pm with every second Friday off, and an extra banked day every 8 weeks. Love the long weekends with my kids.

    Weld type

For welds on pressure vessels, you are best to refer to ASME Sect VI (specifically Parts UW and UG)

    Cross Referencing Water Boilers

Is there a national board number on it? Or a CRN if you are in Canada - you could probably corss reference it with that information.

    False Heads for a Vessel

Are you using UCS-34 to design your flat head?

    UW16 (c)(2)(a)

The minimum weld throat is calculated using: tc = 0.25 or 0.7 * (t min) (use the smaller) where (tmin ) is 0.75 * the thinner of t or tn

    CRN question

I just spoke to our design registration office, and had this been a vertical vessel, I would have been able to use the CRN as it stands, as it is a Horizontal vessel, they wish to see revised saddle calculations only and will register the additional length as an option to the existing CRN.

    Acceptable material for ladder rungs

I just had a look through Safety in Design and other than the minimum 3/4" dia, there is nothing regarding materials - although there is a comment that "rungs and cleats shall be free of splinters, sharp edges, burrs or projections which may be a hazard"

    Acceptable material for ladder rungs

Personally, I have never used anything but 3/4" dia. round bar for ladder rungs. I generally use a structural grade material when I can (SA-36) or a stainless steel if used internally in a vessel where corrosion is a factor.

    CRN question

That's what I thought, my boss seems to think otherwise, sigh.

    CRN question

This may be a basic question, and I am used to having people around with more experience than me to answer these, so bear with me please. If I have a CRN for an expansion tank that is 30" OD x 72" S/S can I use that CRN for a new expansion tank that is identical in all other ways except that...

ASME Section VIII edition 2004, is endorsing two separate Units of Mea

I am relieved to read points d and e, it was my original understanding that if our shop purchased plate/ fittings etc in US units (which is what is readily avaiable), then we could not manufacture/design in SI units (which is what our customer's require). Is it your opinion, Isthill that this...
