Hello there,
Does anyone have an answer about the E33=0 problem with CPS4 element (plane stress)?
Thank you for your ideas and opinions about this issue.

Hi there,
You can apply an amplitude defined as periodic on any type on boundary/loading conditions.
Tools>Amplitude
It is really flexible to simulate any cycle.

Hello,
Could you confirm that the plane stress formulation of Abaqus does not allow to obtain the out of plane strain E33?
Is the plane stress problem well implemented in Abaqus, because I get always E33=0?
This is opposite to the theory especially if Trace(Stress) differs from 0.
Thanks in...
I agree that some contraints applied in a wrong way create wrong results.
I think that the creation of RP and interactions properties with contraints can be very sensitive depending of the type of the model.

Hi,
I know that it is possible to apply a concentrated force on a point but how is it possible to apply a force on a surface (line in 2D, or surface in 3D)?
I would like to give it in Newtons and not a distributed load or a pressure in N/mm^2.
Is it possible with some constraints (tie...
So as far as i understand, Abaqus decided to display zero in some cases and not in others.
Zero stress is displayed with some "output field" options and not for others.
Zero stress is displayed for the tensile direction at unload but not for other components.
Of course I am going through the...
OK. Let's give more details.
Find attached the inp file that was run to obtain the previous result.
According to the Field output lines, the end result is different (10^-13 in the present case).
If you comment the first line and uncomment the second one, the end result is EXACTLY zero...
Hello,
For a linear isotropic elastic material, I applied a load defined by an amplitude (0,0;0.25,1;0.5,0;0.75,-1;1,0) to obtain uniaxial tension on a block.
At steptime 0.25 and 0.75, the stress is OK (constant=to the applied load); at time 0.5 and 1, there is a very small negligible stress...
Hi,
I am a new comer in Dynamics. In my lab, we are using mainly Abaqus Standard and Explicit and sometimes ANSYS. We are advanced users of ABAQUS (UMAT,VUMAT, Python scripts). For dynamical problems where fluid/structure interaction are needed, I'd like to have your opinions about RADIOSS...

Sorry for the late response.
You should do that by modifying your input files (.inp) because I do not think this is available in CAE.
Input files consist of keywords with arguments such as
*Node
1, 11., -0.600000024
2, 0., -0.600000024
Good luck

Hello,
I am facing the problem where I model the behaviour of an agregate defined by different crystals. Each crystal has an elastic anisotropic behaviour defined with respect to its orientation (*Solid section, orientation=.., material=.. ).
In Abaqus, the default outputs of tensors and their...
Hi,
I think that it may be possible to ask for all those quantities using UVARM, USDFLD subroutines with the utility routine GETVRM.
The volume at Integration Point should be referenced as IVOL.
Hope it'll help.

Hello,
An explicit simulation crashed after an electricity shutdown. I did a restart for explicit with the following command:
abaqus job=toto recover
toto being the same input file.
Unfortunately, the simulation stops after 2 hours with the following error message:
Abaqus JOB...
Hi,
We are about 5 to 8 people using Abaqus in our lab on an already installed PE1950. We would like to install another server only dedicated to FE simulation.
I had a look at Dell computing servers. I d like to know if you have an idea of what is the best server and configuration to run...
In fact, it is not an axisymmetric problem.
It should be a thin plate, that is why Plane stress elements were initially used.
I was wondering if in plane stress or plane strain problems the out of plane component of the stiffness matrix has to be continuous.
In 2D, when a rectangular plate is...
To add on that, I can say that it is a 2D model with CPS4R elements.
Are there issues for affecting material orientations on 2D simulations?
Thanks

Hi,
When running a simulation with different material orientations in different sections (partitions) of a plate, I get this error message in the .dat file.
elements have incorrect orientation. The third axis should be
in the hoop direction. The elements have been identified in...
If you do not have any "physical" clue of the values, I d suggest that you enter some random (but realistic) values and that you analyse their effect on the global solution (Impact force).
That will lead you either to inverse identification of the parameters or to see that your problem is...
