Placing stamps on drawings (such as 'confidential')

Another method is to use a sheet format w/ an image 'sent to background' (image = stamp). When the stamp is req'd, just update the dwg to the appropriate sheet format. (Works well for "approved" stamps, esp in conjunction with automatic date update...) Regards, H. Kurt Betton

    cam paths/mates

Fit spline (try two halves for ease of mating). Or u could use a sketch (centered in the track) and constrain to it. Regards

    SpaceNavigator crashes?

You may have to uninstall the software & driver to get the new driver to work correctly. I've run quite a few peripherals thru the monitor ports (albeit temporarily) with no problems. Hope u have the same luck... Regards, H. Kurt Betton

    Dual calipers per rotor

Thanks for Your reply. My intended (expected?) interpretation was that cost would be the primary (overall?) advantage but the other advantages of having a wider range of calipers (such as pad options, rotor thicknesses, mounting type, piston arrangement, availability, serviceability, etc)...

how to build compressor wheel from x,y,z coordinates

Fluent also has a software called "Gambit" (IIRC) which has excellent blade generation capabilities (according to an engineer in that industry) if geometry is of utmost importance. Regards, H. Kurt Betton

    Dual calipers per rotor

Apparently You posted while I was typing last night. The previous reply was directed to Pat. Pretty compelling argument regarding not doubling the heat. The excerpt You quoted was more in regards to the amount of time (or degrees of revolution) the rotor has to cool before being reheated by the...

    Dual calipers per rotor

I interpret Your reply as recommending calipers from performance vehicles to be used in single caliper per rotor configuration. If this is the case, I think I may have incorrectly created the impression that I'm asking about this setup due to lack of funding and looking for a cheap setup...

    Dual calipers per rotor

Lol! I wouldn't trust my bones with niether! (given the implication of 'homemade'). Of course if the design includes sound engineering logic and is being designed on a computer in a home office, I'd be willing to reconsider... Interesting idea of the 'inboard side' mounted rotors. Sounds...

    Dual calipers per rotor

Thanks for the reply. To ensure we're on the same page, I'm talking about using dual caliper per rotor per (front) wheel, not dual rotors per front wheel. Off the top of my head, can think of 3 reservations against using dual rotors... That's not the case but here're two legitimate examples...

    Dual calipers per rotor

Thanks for all the responses. Thundair For a custom application where weight reduction is already in mind,(read: custom knuckle, lightweight rims, etc), the quest of absolute minimum unsprung weight is approaching the point of diminishing returns. Data from FSAE and objective (lap timer)...

    Dual calipers per rotor

Thanks for the reply. I have unsprung weight listed as one of the disadvantages. Considering a custom suspension with a custom knuckle and lightweight wheels, the weight gain would not be enough to make the car handle poorly on bumpy roads. Less poorly than if it had less weight, but not poorly...

Search does not work on Solidworks forum

U can still search the eng-tips forums using the Google search in the mean time. U'll just have to be more specific in ur search criteria to avoid millions of hits. Regards, H. Kurt Betton

Model of a tire wheel for a bicycle or vehicle

I found this link [http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1696774] quite valuable for modeling purposes. It's missing the variables to completely model the wheel but it's a much better start than I'm used to. Obviously, u'll need to obtain the dimensions for each specific wheel. The maker of...

how to build compressor wheel from x,y,z coordinates

I've done a turbo compressor before but it was cosmetic so I used a sweep (rectangle profile) along a helix to create the blades. Then I trimmed using a revolve cut. I suspect that won't work for u (differing blade thickness along the helix). Using the xyz coords u should be able to create one...

    Dual calipers per rotor

Thanks for the replies. Greg: Packaging would be an issue but given the wide variety of mounting locations currently in existence, I feel it could be incorporated as one of the "concurrent factors" in suspension design. My current thinking was to run the same circuit to all 4 front calipers...

    Dual calipers per rotor

Not a secondary caliper for handbrakes/ parking brakes. This is an idea more for discussion than for implementation. Car: Circuit racer. 4lb+/hp. Wide slicks all round. Medium downforce. Short wheelbase. Avg. Track: Low/ medium speed corners after long straights. Occassional stoplight after...

SPO4.1 problem - Structural steel edit feature crash

Well after reviewing the problem w/ my reseller/ tech support, it appears that it is something to do w/ a certain set of files. New and most other old files do not duplicate the problem. Also noticed was that the corrupted files yield an error upon rebuilding - "A weld profile and path segment...

SPO4.1 problem - Structural steel edit feature crash

Well the SldWx Rx is fixed from the "modify" using the cd's but shows no major errors. The only error shown is that the toolbox is loaded on a local drive which it's been that way for over a year (and has shown that error for the same time). Nothing new there. SldWx still crashes under the...

SPO4.1 problem - Structural steel edit feature crash

The structural steel was taken from the toolbox and turned into a library feature part for easier access (i.e. placed in the menu list of Struct steel parts).
