Sample Size / Statistical Significance

A little late for you may be but; MS Excel has the Confidence Worksheet function which may be of interest.

    Expected Overall Compliance

Greg, Thanks for your help again. p(A)*p(B)*p(C) looks less complicated. Seems I am going through 'old days' without actually having lived them! Much appreciated. regards Hugh

    Expected Overall Compliance

    Greg, Thanks for the response I think I get and grasp your logic and get an answer of 72.675% Thus; 85% - (85% of 10%) = 85% - 8.5% = 76.5% 76.5% - (76.5% of 5%) = 76.5% - 3.825% = 72.675% (=73ish%) Am I correct in this? The parameters are not independent (of course)! Kind regards Hugh,

    Expected Overall Compliance

Dear All, If I test a Sample of Material with multiple specified parameters I can calculate the expected compliance for each parameter. e.g. Parameter 1 is expected to comply 90% of the time Parameter 2 is expected to comply 95% of the time Parameter 3 is expected to comply 85% of the time If...

Normal distribution for data entered as percentages

BigH, Thanks for your feedback. The INDOT manual is interesting. I see with some reassurance that INDOT (6. Statistical QC for Aggregate Processing)stick with the normal distribution and simply add the percentages expected beyond zero and 100 back into the compliant group (as proposed in verse...

Normal distribution for data entered as percentages

Greg, Ok, so the solution is not a simple one. Thanks for your help and a star for you. kind regards Hugh,

Normal distribution for data entered as percentages

Greg, It's just normally done that way. So what distribution would you consider more appropriate? Would that apply just to the parameters (sieves) having values close to 0% and 100% or all of them? regards Hugh,

Normal distribution for data entered as percentages

Greg, I have not chosen to use percentages, the data I am working with is percents passing given sieve apertures. Such data is always measured and specified in terms of percent passing in the aggregate/ construction industry. e.g. a material may be specified to have 95 -100 % passing a 20mm...

Normal distribution for data entered as percentages

Greg, Thank you for responding so quickly. Unfortunately I do not understand what you are telling me - so can you expand on it a little if not completely. regards Hugh,

Normal distribution for data entered as percentages

Dear all, I am doing normal distribution analyses on parameters expressed in percentages. Sometimes the parameters have specified ranges, sometimes not. This works fine when the data and their specifications are in the mid percentage ranges. I can determine the number of samples expected in...

    cleaning concrete testing equip

If you clean the kit on the same day it gets dirty a jetwash should be all you need when it is brought back to the lab. regards Hugh

    Preceding zeros

<<permanent change in Excel>> It looks as if you can change the defaults for just about anything in new books and sheets ref. http://www.meadinkent.co.uk/xlconfigure.htm but long live leading zeroes. regards Hugh

Passing a UDT to a procedure -"Expected array" error

When your; Public Sub transform_xyz(ByRef transform As transforms) 'body End Sub is in a Module your code is fine; when it is in a Form use; Friend Sub transform_xyz(ByRef transform As transforms) 'body End Sub vb6 assumed regards Hugh

    Syphoning Down a Lake

Carefully immerse the pipe(s) in the lake so that it is filled with water as it is fed in. Seal/ plug one end and anchor the open end so that it remains immersed as you drag the sealed end to the outfall point. When all is set remove the plug. regards Hugh

    Concrete statistical analysis

Robert168, <<the core test result was satisfactory>> Why bother with the cylinders at all if you have cores. Just enter the core result for that point in your analysis. regards Hugh
