Expansion Index (D4829) Procedural Question
The standard states that the sample be compacted in the mold, trimmed, and returned with porous disks. We've always performed the compaction in the empty mold (no disks) and trimmed off a fair amount of excess soil from the bottom and tried to limit excess on top.
