What's the rule for defining the base part with 0 DOF in Assembly?

NX2 doesn't seem to have the concept of a base part, so you have to constrain it yourself. I find it useful to define some datums at the top level of the assembly and mate the base part to those datums in order to "lock it down".

Array of "Subdivide Face" in NX2

That sounds interesting, but I am stuck with NX2. (And happy to have it - we used CADDS5 until a year ago.)

Array of "Subdivide Face" in NX2

That's almost it, but the idea is to use the subdivision to control the constraints rather than the mesh. For example, say the surface is subdivided into ten faces, with the even numbered faces restrained and the odd numbered faces unrestrained. Then we could vary the number of faces and see...

    NX2 Detail view

I can confirm this does not work in NX2. It isn't very elegant, but you can change the "label on parent" setting to "boundary" (i.e. no label) and make your own label with the annotation editor. Then you can set the arrow origin wherever you like.

    User Defined Symbol Scaling?

This is a bit of a hack, but you could measure how much the symbol is being scaled up, then scale down the original by the same factor and re-create it.

Array of "Subdivide Face" in NX2

Hi guys, thanks for your replies. Sorry I wasn't specific enough - sometimes things are very clear in your own mind but don't make much sense when you say them! I have a square plate, 100x100x5 and am trying to divide one surface into an arbitrary number "n" of equally spaced strips, e.g. at...

Array of "Subdivide Face" in NX2

I'm attempting to create a model of a plate, one of whose faces is subdivided into n equal pieces, where n is a user expression. I've used a datum plane to define a line across the surface of the plate, then used "Subdivide Face" to do the first division. When I try to array the subdivision...

Joining adjacent faces of a solid in NX2

I played with Quilt a bit more and never got it to work properly. I wonder if it only works on sheet bodies. Join Curve was the answer. I was trying to avoid re-creating the geometry because the "top hat" is part of a larger imported solid (imagine a bit of formed sheet metal with holes in it...

Joining adjacent faces of a solid in NX2

I'm attempting to combine two adjacent faces in a solid model in order to eliminate an edge that is causing me trouble when meshing for FE analysis. One of the faces is planar, the other is a trimmed toroid; if you imagine a top hat shape, I am trying to join the brim of the hat with the fillet...
