    Amine Tower Corrosion

In our experience 6ft/s is the maximum for rich piping, 3ft/s is the max in certain types of exchanger tubes. Ben Spooner, P. Eng Process Engineer Amine Experts Inc Calgary, Alberta

    TEG DEHYDRATION UNIT

If the glycol is fine you don't need to replace it. Ben Spooner, P. Eng Process Engineer Amine Experts Inc Calgary, Alberta

    foaming problem in glycol contactor.

Get an analysis done on the glycol and check for degradation and/or low pH. These can contribute to foaming. I'm also a big believer of using the reboiler to not only boil off water but also other contaminants. Run it at 200C and circulate as slow as possible. In Alberta oleyl alcohol is a...

    MDEA problem

Imans - from what I can tell this is a low pressure application where the intent is to selectively remove H2S over CO2. MDEA will do this better than DIPA but due to the low partial pressure of H2S, there is little driving force to get it into the MDEA. You need to focus on two things: keep...

    Choose a process simulation model.

Good point, I should have made it clear that AMSIM is the add on amine package for HYSYS. It has several handy features such as pre-built plant models and liquid/liquid simulation capability. After using several simulators (T-Sweet, HYSYS, ProTreat) extensively I have found my preference to...

    Choose a process simulation model.

I use ProTreat (from Optimized Gas Treating, Inc) almost exclusively though sometimes double check with AMSIM. ProTreat I've found to be very accurate most of the time, which is handy since 75% of my job is to do simulations. Ben Spooner, P. Eng Process Engineer Amine Experts Inc Calgary, Alberta

    sour water stripping unit

The linked thread does not mention the importance of a properly sized holding tank or "feed stabilization tank" (ideally 3 days) to ensure a constant composition in the flow to the SWS. This will help you to maintain a steady overhead temperature of 100 C or so. The feed to the SRU should be...

low pressure rich sour gas treating

Unfortunately MDEA will be of little use in this application because at low pressure it does not remove H2S very well. You will probably have the best luck with DGA. It will degrade in the presence of CO2 but can be reclaimed. Ben Spooner, P. Eng Process Engineer Amine Experts Inc Calgary...

Amine Unit Filter - Carbon Particle Carryover

We always suggest a particle filter after a carbon bed. 5 or 10 micron absolute should last you a good 6 months. Equally important is to properly load the carbon into a wet vessel and backflush thouroughly before brining the amine online.
