    Creating tide levels in Excel

OK, I'm trying to model vessel movements in a port. My model requires the tide levels. They don't need to be 100% accurate, but I want them to be better than simply a sine curve. At present, this is all I am using, in the form: ={Tidal Height}*SIN({Time}/{Tide period}*2*PI()) Tidal height...

    Weird concrete slab surface pattern

It's the opposite way round though - the concrete is higher between the bars, not lower.

    Weird concrete slab surface pattern

I found this weird pattern on an existing concrete slab (exaggerated by some black-ish growth on the higher points), I wonder if anybody can tell me what it is - I have never come across it before. The slab was constructed in the UK about 10 years ago. It is approx 2m thick, and was built...

Ground bearing pressures with two-way eccentric loading

I have a very old chart for determining the ground pressures underneath a rectangular concrete base where the loading on the base is eccentric in both the X and Y dimensions. There are four cases: 1. where the whole of he base is in compression 2. where a corner of the base is in 'tension' 3...

    re-welding on a plate - implications?

Are there any implications for multiple welding different items in the same location on a piece of plate (i.e. attach something by welding, burning/cutting it off, welding something else on, and repeating)? This is attaching large transportation items onto a structural deck. Many thanks, Lepista

    Load Combinations

Help! I have an analysis where there are several different moving loads. I want to combine them in the following fashion: LC1 + LC2 + Envelope(LC3-LC10) + Envelope(LC11-LC22) NOTE the envelope is not an srss of the loadcases. Is there anyway that STAAD can do this...? Any help much appreciated
