Typical of PTC I am afraid, but it appears to be proprietary even though it carries the .plt extension.
Odds of finding a converter appear to be slim.
Pro/Engineer is the best CAD software I have used but they really make it difficult to sell to the decision makers.
thanks for your advice
Jeff
Has anybody identified a third party product that will convert .plt format (files generated from Productview graphics server) to .pdf format?
I have a demand for on-line .pdf but need to also maintain the .plt as the viewable in productview.
Thanks
I am interested in your response so I hope this helps.
I have a tube with rubber injected in the inside that creates a spiral shape.
This tube asesembly can be made to variable lengths, variable tube materials and variable rubber materials.

I have an excel table (20 columns wide) that I want to display in a drawing.
Most of the information is gathered by "looking up" information in other Excel tables in the worksheet or driven by formulas.
The exceptions are three columns, one being the part number and the others, dimensional...
I looked at a similar thought. This would work if you do not mind 2 "separate" views (one right end and one left end). I added a configuration for each end and added both to the drawing. This got messy quickly - lining up the views, view projections, and dimensional duplication, etc.
I might...
Thanks - I thought that might be the answer.
I may be in a minority, but there is definitely a need with anybody that is considering automating a drawing process. There are different levels of expectations when somebody thinks "automation".
Imagine a cork screw - now consider that cork screw in...
I can control drawing view scale based on variable model dimensions. I accomplish this with a master template part and drawing and a macro that forces the drawing scale based upon model dimensions.
My problem is that the situation also demands a broken view.
I do not see any dimensional location...
I am running 2005 - SP04.
How does 2006 look as far as stability?
I am used to waiting 4-6 months after release with PTC products. This usually gave us a cut that had the early release bugs fixed.

Please forgive me for I am a newbie to SW but -- what is with the detail package??
The dual dimensioning scheme does not allow an option to put the secondary dimension on the bottom. That does not comply with ANSI for dual display.
If you want a basic dimension with a dual dimension, you get...
eRallyMan,
I understand exactly what you want. I have been searching for the same answer.
ANSI does not in any way allow for the display of a secondary revision.
I do not know of any other PDM solution that does not allow tracking a version change of the same primary revision.
In the case of...
I am looking for options and methodology that maintain dependancies between the cast and finished part.
configuration management seems to be the most obvious, but I would like to pursue other methods.
Thanks
I am looking for a source that provides practices for specifying manufacturing data on drawing.
There seems to be debate whether the data belongs on the Eng drawing and subject to the change process versus controlling the mfg data by some other method.
Examples of data are such things as "before...
I did not get any hits on pdmworks either.
Did pdmworks require extensive customization to achieve any / all objectives?
I am refering to issues such as release notification procedures / ownership issues / document viewing, ECN management, etc.
Thanks
