I am having problems saving 3dxmls. They seem to save but when I attempt reopen them with the 3dxml viewer or V5 they fail to load. I get all the product structure but nothing else. Any ideas?
I have setup a sheet to create hyperlinks to a secured web-based database (requires login the first time you enter). The problem is that the links open a new window every time I click them and that requires me to login for that window.
How do I create a hyperlink that reuses the same window...
I apologize if this is confusing but try and bear with me.
I have a Indentured PL in the following format...
x y z
1 0 A1 -
2 1 B1 A1
3 1 B2 A1
4 2 C1 B2
5 3 D1 C1
6 2 C2 B2
7 2 C3 B2
8 1 B3 A1
9 2 CC1 B3
The numbers on the left are line item numbers...
I have several CGR's that when combined make a very large assembly. All of the CGRs that make up this assembly have many solids in them and I need to Hide/Show the solids individually. Is there any easy way that I can select an indivual solid or does V5 see them as one combined solid because...
Ok, after pondering through every post in this forum I came across this post... http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=120407&page=5 and once again Melone was a big help.
Although that was a step in the right direction, is there any way I can compare the two spread sheets and highlight the...
Over a month ago I was given a BOM in the form of a excel spread sheet and was just given an updated version of it. A great deal of the assemblies have expanded throughout the BOM. Is there anyway I can compare the two spread sheets so that I can easily find the differences?
In DMU, is there any way to save the session that you have loaded so that so you can reopen it easily. In otherwords, what I am trying to do is change colors of certain parts within DMU and then save it so I can later update it... without changing the model's color in the database.
Much like...
When opening a model in DMU I see all of the construction geometry. Is there any way to no show all of it but leave the solids?
Mind you this is DMU I am talking about. V5 has a menu for hide/show: lines, planes, ect. DMU does not as far as I can tell.
As I said in the first place, I am not designing anything. I am exploring the feasibility of this project and part of that is exploring its cost. All I wanted was to know what FOS is used on this type of application so I can *estimate* a schedule pipe.
Quite honestly I do not see where this...
I apologize, ASME B31.3
This is a Natural Gas Combustion Process. As mentioned, it will be operating at a max temp of 1500F, 80psia, and a 140Ft/s
Im looking for 10,000hrs of life at a minimum.
T=1500F
P=80psia

I dont have access to the B33.1 code and am currently doing preliminary work study feasibility of a rig that may be constructed in the future.
The Pipe will be a Nickel alloy, probably Hastelloy X and I have a great deal of material test information at...

4. Its an excellent field of study with endless possibilities. I know engineers who are now sales people, managers, and even doctors. My point being, as an engineer you are qualified to do any job that you want to for two reasons.
A: Engineering degrees are...
Q: How many quarters would it take to stack them as high as the empire state building?
Thats the only information you get.
It was a simple "Firmy" problem, they just wanted to see your rationalization and really didn't care about the correct answer. That is probably what they were looking at...
Alright, I see where I went wrong, the source of my viscosity didn't have its english units labeled very well and when I converted it I carried that inaccuracy.. Thanks for the help.
Its NG combustion exhaust (assumed dry air).

I am looking at installing a cooled probe in the exhaust, its a custom device and I am doing some preliminary work with it. The surrounding pipes are uninsulated if you were wondering. If you were leading to radiation, that is something I...
Dens. exh 0.087822147 lbm/Ft^3
Visc. Exh 1.07E-06 lbm/Ft*s
U exh 123.0844865 Ft/s
Here are the values I was using.. If your noticing small discrepencies.. its because I used 80psia, 6.5lbm/s, and D=10.5"... I havn't had a chance to check everything yet, I plan to do it shortly...
Thanks for...
I apologize but I am fairly limited with my resources. Basically what I have is Exhaust at 80psi and nearly 7lbm/s at a max temperature of 2000F in a 11" pipe. I know how todo most of the equations but I cannot find a Nu Equation for that type of flow and that high of a reynolds number. I am...
