My 2 cents: On the average I crash SW 2005 s.p. 0.1 about 4 to 6 times a day. Similarly in the past on SW 2004 and 2003. Working on local drive. Sometime I crash when SAVING the file !!!
MS-DOS did not crash that often when saving a file !!!
Because I do not want to waste any time on installation just to discover new bugs (which would not be a big surprise considering the past).

The problems with LAYER on the dwg remain. Some stubborn "metal" refuses to be moved to another layer. I tried Componet Line Font, also tried open LAYER "Window" , had...
In my case it's only the "parts" (that is the "metal") that do those weird things.
So far I never had a problem with dwg "entities", that is DIMENSIONS, NOTES, BALLOONS ... etc.
One more thing - whe I add a part to an assy and than go to the dwg, the added part is diplayed BLACK in all views and is on layer NONE (I guess by default).
Now when (on the dwg) I go to a view and use Component Line Font and try to change the LAYER, LINE, THICKNES (of that new added part) it...
Now, you are not going to believe this thinking that I must be smoking something ...
For the past half an hour or so, I worked on some other dgws/parts (full screen), but that "wacky" dwg I was refering to earlier, was open, thou not on the screen ...
I just clicked Windows (in SW session) and...

In the mean time - just 5 minutes ago I added another projected view to 2 already existing views on the dwg.
The previous 2 views had the (simple) assy "objects" (parts) on layer called OBJECT (layer color=green, diplayed color=green, O.K.).

Exactomundo ... and much more is not right ... You do not even need configurations, to have things messed up.
What really ..... me off is the fact that those problems seem to be "random". You can have one assy dwg O.K. and next dwg, of similar complexity - messed up
The problem I have is with layer we name OBJECT and another one called PHANTOM.
We put "solid objects" on those layers. Those layers (like all others) have different colors.
This is when we have 98% of problems
Dimensions, notes - never a problem.
Sometime problem with layer CENTER, where...

In the past two years I moved from NT4.0 SP6.0 to XP SP2, new video card with much more memory, from SW2001 --> 2003 -->2004 ---> 2005 SP 0.1
And LAYERS (on the drawing) was always a problem - it does not work about 60% of the time as it should (wrong display of colors, line...
It looks like I can not attach a BALLOON to an item (object, not say a centerline) in ALTERNATE Drawing View.
Now, this is quite complex machine and I do not want to spend time to simplify it before sending it of to SW Rep for analisys.
Has anyone else nad this problem ?
I have around 22 yrs of different CAD experience under my belt and I am capable of designing fairly complex machinery in SW, but THREADS showings are complete puzzle to me.
Sometime they show up on dwgs, sometime they don't. I read HELP on SW, tried this, tried that.

Not so - the fact that I have a welded bracket has nothing to do with weldments.
Mayby I used wrong terminology - forget about the welds - imagine that those individual plates are magnetic and are held together with magnetic forces - no welds, no glue whatsoever.

Actually, I think it should be called BUG - because MIRROR does NOT beheave "dynamically", that is does not update the MIRRORed assy on the next higher assy the next time around the (higher) assy is displayed. I tried Ctrl-Q and "Rebuilt" icon - does not help
