    Code Velocity Limits Plastic Pipe

Stanier, It has also been my experience that most people ignore the requirements of Codes, standards, and regs when it comes to surge analyses. I think even when using "classical techniques" like the method of characteristics (Wylie,Streeter,"Fluid Transients in Systems"), many people ignore...

    water hammer simulation

Another option is to use Sinda/Fluint by Cullimore and Ring technologies. This is a ciruit type analysis program similar to AFT's Fathom/Arrow and not geometry based like a CFD program. However, this program handles steady/transient/single phase/two phase flow with heat transfer and has empty...

    Annular flow in pipes

It would seem like the left hand side of the outer pipe has an improper boundary condition.

Sphere heating by convection - boundary condition(numerical)

One way to do this is to include the solid in the computation domain. In the solid of course, all velocities are set to zero, and the specific heat and other properties must be set accordingly. This is called a conjugate heat transfer problem and is not uncommon. Hope this has helped.

Flow induced vibration on piping downstream of PSV

Hello Chatri, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software is now mature enough to estimate turbulence kinetic energy and frequencies through a PSV which can be translated into fluctuating pressures/velocities and frequencies. That information can then be used as loads in a Finite Element...
